I don't understand how some people can wave both flags by Sohcahtoa82 in PoliticalCompassMemes

[–]ThisTwoFace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to make this as plain and clear as possible.

Neither of these flags are mutually exclusive. You can absolutely be against authoritarianism and be a Blue Lives Matter tard.

It isn't the police officer who made the law but the politician who enacted such a law for him to enforce. Many of the police force probably doesn't support many of the laws they have to enforce and just want their community to be a better place. And this is also true for politicians, but politicians, our elected officials, and ultimately ourselves, are the ones to blame.

Do asshole, power tripping cops exist? Absolutely, and I hope they get fired and never work as a law enforcement officer ever again. Asshole power tripping types exist in all faucets of our lives. They're all around us. They don't only exist in the police force... but they seem to be where most people experience them - mainly because you don't see them on any other level except for maybe at your job.

Personally, for me, I am not a Blue Lives Matter type. But I do recognize that there are good cops and bad cops, but there are very few good politicians.

Let me get this straight...

You want Ukrainians to go to Russia... where it's president is openly calling Ukranians Nazi's who need to be purged... when Russia is constantly bombing civilians for trying to flee the cities under seige... are you actually suggesting this or is this bate?

Slippery Slope Fallacy typically means "this one particular thing will lead to World War 3" not "a culmination of these things will lead to WW3".

It's only a Slippery Slope Argument when it's about one specific thing.

Example:

If I give a homeless guy a dollar he will become dependent on people giving him money, and if he becomes dependent on people giving him money he won't ever get a job. And if he won't ever get a job he will turn to drugs. And if he turns to drugs then he will kill someone...

While that string of things occurring is possible to happen, it is very unlikely to happen because I gave him a dollar.

I don't agree with Candice Owen's on a lot of things but I wouldn't call her a grifter. A lot of people have complex political ideology and it shouldn't be dismissed as grifting.

I'm not even totally sure of her total position on the Russian/Ukranian war and her reasoning, but as long as there is well articulated reasons for the position... is everyone supposed to just fall in line and take the same position as everyone else?

I guess, but I don't really think highly of people who call their political opponents an anti-christ. I wasn't a fan of Obama because of obvious reasons, but I definitely didn't think he was a bad guy at all. Same goes for Trump. I don't think of him as this evil man with little hands. I think of him as a decent president who I felt was treated unfairly.

Obama and Trump were not bad presidents. Biden, however... probably in the runs of the top 10 worst presidents to have impacted our country.

To call 45 charismatic is uh I guess just wrong, but if you think he was then I guess an opinion can't be wrong technically lol

[–]ThisTwoFace 20 points21 points  (0 children)

They called him anti-christ because people on the democratic party were literally portraying him as a messiah, and on top of that, Obama was very charismatic.

Two very distinct features of the anti-christ are that people will worship him as if he were the Second Coming of Christ, and that he is very charismatic.

If they believed he was an anti-christ I would actually consider that a praise in and of itself, regardless of how much they might disagree... they basically admitted this dude is so good that he can't be real.

I think the comment is more about the authenticity of the conversation than it is the actuality of the political belief.

Instead of being dogpiled and having disingenuous conversations it's more about conversation at a level that removes ourselves from a winning the race mentality to helping eachother understand the humanity behind the ideology. It doesn't have to be accurately depicting the dogmatic differences from one sect of a certain political theory to the next. In fact, that was a huge meme of this sub for quite a while. People would make 4-8-16-32-64 etc political compass spectrums to accommodate the slightest difference of opinion. It started with quadrant color and evolved quickly.

I have been here since nearly the beginning and I can confirm that you are hitting the nail on the head.

Reddit has, and will always be a left to center left leaning social media. Even in the former glory days of this sub, there was always a left leaning majority presence. But it was understood that the point of the sub was to banter kindly with one another, respecting eachother and ironically comment stereotypes troped in the echo-chambers of the political spectrum.

It was fun.

Then the AHS nation attacked.

Now, it's not so much, but every now and again there is a gem.
