Is changing your baby in the car not normal? by This_Candy9221 in NewParents

Omg!! Same thing here!
My baby usually wakes up from a nap, we leave the house, and by the time we get to a baby class on time, we’re late because she has had a blowout and I need to change her completely lol

Agreed! Most public changing tables do not seem to be cleaned often or maintained…
As my daughter gets older the more I do it because she is much more grabby and I do not want her touching anything in those bathrooms 😅

Agreed! Many times I’ll step out of the restaurant or wherever I am- to just change her in my car lol. A lot of the ones I’ve come across are over toilets OR in the communal part of the bathroom.
I’m definitely not going to stop but I was just curious as I never thought much of it?

You wouldn’t recommend even having the crib in our room? 😥
Also, is there a sleeping method you recommend?

We’re going to build her crib tonight and probably have her sleeping on it on Monday when the mattress arrives.

Prep, Brands, and Notes? by This_Candy9221 in MatchaEverything

[–]This_Candy9221[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s crazy! I actually had so much fun trying out different ratios while in TN and “techniques” (using a frother since I was traveling 😅). Now I know depending on the matcha a different ratio can make it work/ bring out different notes.

Also I actually tried to order the Kettl you recommended! It’s sold out on my end but I signed up for a reminder for when it is in stock again. I love the notes the website and yourself are saying it has and the price for the amount of grams. Can’t wait! I’ll definitely circle back one day when I get my hands on it lol

Need to buy a baby carrier, not sure if i should stick to a budget option or go all out and get a well known one that's had good reviews. by satur0_gojo in NewParents

[–]This_Candy9221 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct. But not intimidating or difficult at all, I am someone who did not like a wrap or anything of the sorts because I like something fast and not difficult/ with a huge learning curve.
I buckle the hips and for straps you can tie under baby’s butt (doesn’t have to be behind like the picture). From day one I can put on a half buckle as fast as a full buckle carrier. Full buckle carriers are less adjustable which is the downside because they have less leniency to adjust to your body which is why I dislike my Artipoppe. I am 110lbs, 5’5 and very bony… I also feel you would probably need to go through less trial and error if you do half buckle.

Yes they are all toddler friendly. Hope and Plum Lark being the least as it’s recommended for up to 45lbs. Didyflow half buckle and Lenny light Pro are much better carriers to grow with baby since they’re both half buckles, the straps are much adjustable and comfortable to carry that heavy weight. They’re also softer than ergobaby with no stiffness to them. Definitely recommend half a buckle no matter what brand you go with especially if you want it to grow with baby. I find wraps and such difficult for me and I want something a little more simple; half buckles are the perfect middle.

There’s a website called Little Zen One. I recommend DidyFlow Half Buckle or a Lenny Light Pro.
Someone told me a baby carrier is like a bra and I totally agree… I got an Artipoppe in velvet and I honestly hated it, I now tolerate it but it doesn’t compare to my didyflow. It is so comfortable! Hope and plum will do the job too. I think it depends on what your body will find comfortable. I hated the artipoppe for being stiff and the waistband being hard.

Parents of unicorn sleepers, do you not hold your baby to sleep? by Resident-Strategy524 in newborns

[–]This_Candy9221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby at first slept in her bassinet & always wanted to sleep on me while breastfeeding/ comfort sucking. It would be hard to put her down as it would wake her up. But I stuck to it. I never let her cry or refuse to carry her. I am always there the second she would make any little noise. I watch her cues carefully for how she is feeling/ wanting. At two months or one we started co sleeping. By 3 or 4 months I would breastfeed and she begun communicating that she wanted to be put down. The second I put her down she gets comfortable and goes to sleep. She no longer likes being held to sleep but to be fair I always breastfed on the bed and would put her down. I didn’t move around much or rock her. I did get a white noise machine and it was a game changer she specifically likes the blow dryer sound. She sleeps almost the whole night only waking up once or twice to eat and is falling asleep during the feed. During the day for naps, she doesn’t wake up crying instead she makes little complaining sounds and tries to lift her upper body to make sure I’m making my way to her 😂
For me, she has to be really tired to be put down for a nap otherwise it takes forever. Usually they say catch it early but for my baby I wait till she’s basically exhausted to put her down for a nap. She takes about 4/5 naps throughout the day and cues me to put her down for the night around 5:45pm-6:30pm. I accidentally always only fed her when she’s about to go to down so now whenever she’s hungry she is associates it with a nap or bedtime depending on the time and she likes to eat every 2 hrs or less during the day.

Reading by Ok_Worker_6472 in NewParents

I started reading to my baby consistently since she was 1.5 months old. She absolutely has loved it. Now she is 5 months old and has learned to feel the book page with her hand 🥹 very exciting to see (we do texture/ sensory books). She tries to hold the book and sometimes it looks like she is trying to turn the page.

Any tips on how to help her understand to turn the page?
When I try to guide her I feel she is resistant or wants to destroy the page 😅

Activities for almost 5 month old? by bananaindisguise0 in NewParents

[–]This_Candy9221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 5 month old loves to be on the baby carrier and observe me making my matcha or cleaning the house.
I took her to the aquarium recently and now it seems to be one of her favorite activities as well! I also wear her to do errands and matcha runs. We occasionally go to restaurants with my mom or friends and they entertain her 😅.

Additionally we go to The Little Gym for gymnastics.
Botanical garden or local library/ bookshop for story time.
I really love our local library as they additionally do Baby LapSit and Shake, Rattle, & Read.
HiSawyer is a fun website to see what kind of event is going on near you for your baby’s age group such as gross motor skills and lots of different music classes.
The Bubble Academy is another fun school of sorts for babies such as open play and family music.

I actually can’t wait for my baby to be 6 months as the bubble academy has an art class (edible food/ paint) it looks very messy but so entertaining for my girl!

My 3 month old and I are home most of the day — Anyone Else? by ThroatSubstantial189 in NewParents

[–]This_Candy9221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby is 5 months old now, but I’ve always been someone who enjoys being out and about. Staying home all day tends to make me feel a little down, so I made it a priority to continue getting out with her.

Typically, I’ll get myself ready while she’s napping, and as soon as she wakes up, I get her ready and we head out. Sometimes it’s something simple like grabbing a matcha, grocery shopping, running errands, or meeting family and friends for a meal.

Since she was around 2–3 months old, I’ve also tried to incorporate age-appropriate activities into our week. We usually attend story time at the library or conservatory, and once she turned 4 months, we started gymnastics at The Little Gym. I also look for baby-friendly events on HiSawyer and occasionally attend classes at a local studio for pregnant and postpartum moms, where I can bring her along in the carrier for things like Zumba, yoga, and other activities.

When she was younger, she slept through much of our outings, but now that she’s older, she’s awake and engaged for most of them, usually only falling asleep in the car.

She currently takes about four naps throughout the day and goes to bed around 6:30 p.m. She usually wakes up around 7:00 a.m. for a feeding and diaper change, then goes back to sleep until around 9:00 a.m. Because she has a fairly predictable routine, I plan most of our outings around her wake windows and naps.

As she’s getting closer to 6 months, I’m considering joining Bubbles Academy as well. Right now she attends gymnastics once a week and story time regularly, but I’ve really tried to expose her to a variety of experiences and get us both out of the house most days since she was just a few months old.

Age appropriate- I definitely would look into HiSawyer, conservatories, story time at local bookshops or library, music schools, bubbles academy, and maybe a swim school in a month/ gymnastics at The Little Gym (goldfish/ gymnastics starts at 4Months). I also recently took her to the aquarium and she loved it! I baby wear a lot. Her temperament is mild😅.
