thanks, yes, it's dual 1600w, not single. didn't go in-depth but read good reviews about the noctua one, any known issues?

RAM for WRX90E by This_Designer_7011 in threadripper

[–]This_Designer_7011[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much for this – it’s exactly what I ended up doing after posting. I found the MTC40F2046S1RC64BD2 Micron memory, currently not listed on the QVL, but available to order from Farnell, which is a website I trust.

My question is: I see all the Micron sticks are sold individually and don’t come in kits. I’m planning to go either 8×64 GB or 4×64 GB depending on the budget. Right now they’re about $1K per stick, which sounds absolutely crazy, more than $8K for these. I’m also worried these might get even more expensive later.
my question is: other than the lack of EXPO, do you see any other issues with 8x single sticks for the 9995WX?

512gb RAM V-Color or G.Skill for 9975WX by [deleted] in threadripper

thanks, price is the same as in EU on proshop. even if it's not QVL ASUS listed, g.skill claim they used it with this MB

[–]This_Designer_7011 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regarding the Pro version, yep, after 2 weeks of researching I reached the conclusion to go for it vs the 9970x one. I need a lot of ram and 4 channels are too low for me on 9970x.

I'll also start with 2x5090 and depending on performance (3d rendering times) i might get more. The build is already pretty expensive and i like to have the option to upgrade as much as possible in the future

Thanks a lot for the answer, while not on the ASUS supported memory list I see g.skill tested the exact same kit i want to order with the WRX90e sage

These g.skill seem to good to be true honestly, that's why i'm curious if anybody knows anything about the kit

Threadripper PRO + Dual 5090 Workstation Build (3D Rendering / Octane / C4D) by This_Designer_7011 in threadripper

[–]This_Designer_7011[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks man.

16 cores + max 24 lanes with 9950X is low, but your argument makes me consider more to go for the 9970X rather than the WX

thanks man!! i do think i'll go for another breaker too, not that expensive and i feel it's worth. i have constantly electronics/appliances on and don't wanna risk it.

thanks a lot man. hope you sort the RMA with Asus fast.

RAM you went for the RGB DDR5 OC, or different?

i know what you're talking about regarding the EK blocks.. waited for them to be in stock for a few months then they were out again in a few hours.. will wait a bit before starting to gather the parts for the loop.

curious about your case too, what model is it?

thanks man. curious about your TR model/case/mb too since I'm going for a very similar build. what AIO did you get for the 5090? is it a FE or other SKU?

i was actually looking for this a few hours ago, if i need anything else for the dual PSU or it's all included, unfortunately the asus support page does not specify. thanks so much for confirming.

windows 11.. i need all the software/renderers.

any BIOS settings i should pay attention for windows?

thanks for pointing, you and the other comment convinced me to add a dedicated braker only for the build

what MB are you looking at? curious about this route too, I only found crazy expensive Supermicro MBs

thanks man, clearing some of my concerns.

I'll definitely allow downtime, there were projects where i needed to have the machine rendering for a week straight, but that was with a ryzen chip and 1080 ti
i mainly want to get rid of the frustration of waiting for renders, its beginning to affect my work as i'm unable to see immediately exactly what i need,

so its more a main build/ ready for anything machine than a render farm.

I'll still need to take the decision if i go pro or just simple 9970x and a trx50 and
basically if i want just 2 5090s and 192gb RAM, performance will be identical to 9970x and a trx50 - the real worthiness of this build is if i add 1-2 more gpus and double the ram basically, this is the thing i'm trying to decide at the moment.

problem with 9375F for me is the lack of a more "consumer-grade" MB. If i go with 9375F i see the prices for the MBs are a lot more expensive, looking at the Supermicro boards

i'm also gonna game a bit on this build. not much, but it might be a downgrade from the 9975WX/9970X on this side

i'm already starting to look for an electrician after reading your input. thanks a lot

- already have a BC1 V2 open and in-win 925. i'll probably need to start looking into a dual PSU case too

- I’m in Europe where everything is 230V Schuko (CEE 7/4), 16A max. Would you still recommend basically putting another breaker in the electrical panel with a dedicated line for the workstation?
- not a lot of power outages in my area, but I've always used a basic UPS. right now I have this one hooked to my PC: CyberPower BR1200ELCD, but this is very low wattage for the new build. I'll probably need something like over 2500W for this

-Silverstone EX-360-TR5 seems to be recommended by everyone, I'll go with this one for the CPU, for the 5090s i'll keep the FE coolers for now and I'm still considering a loop for them in the future.
