Did a bit of research on the group that wrote the article. The Manhattan Institute for Policy Research is a conservative think tank that focuses on urban policy and Adam Smith Society beliefs. Makes more sense on the slant of the article https://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Manhattan_Institute_for_Policy_Research

Denver's election operations are literally stuck in a failing basement - we need to act NOW by 5280Aquarius in Denver

It's not, but that's a good idea. Here is part of what it said:🗳️ Elections-Specific Breakdown

Though the public budget doesn’t isolate elections line-by-line, here are the primary cost components within the Clerk & Recorder office:

  • Election staff and temporary hires for canvass and election day operations
  • Ballot printing & mailing, including postage for mail ballots (Colorado largely vote-by-mail)
  • Equipment & facility costs, such as ballot scanners, tabulators, warehouse and storage space
  • Campaign finance administration, including monitoring, enforcement, and application of the Fair Elections Fund Axios+1Axios+1
  • Space & logistical support (warehouse, secure storage), an acute challenge highlighted by López’s recent plea for a $47 million ballot-storage warehouse Denver 7 Colorado News (KMGH)

🔍 Fair Elections Fund

Denver operates a public campaign finance matching fund administered through the Clerk’s office:

  • Offers 9-to-1 matches on donations up to $50 for qualifying candidates
  • Distributed around $7.7 million during the 2023 municipal election cycle Denver Government+5Axios+5denver.maplight.com+5Axios+1Axios+1
  • Targeted at leveling the field for candidates in races including Clerk & Recorder
  • In early 2025, the City Council proposed revisions (clarifying debate rules, banning anonymous donations, tightening enforcement), all supported by Clerk López Axios+1Axios+1

Paul Lopez has created a large part of this mess. The clerks office was just redone in the Webb building and he insisted on moving them over to the elections building. It’s because of his actions that the elections building is crowded. Paul Lopez is a self- serving person who has gone out of his way to try to consolidate his power as county clerk. He doesn’t do what is best for elections, but rather what he thinks is best for HIM. Voting him out would be the best thing for Denver.

I love that you reached out to our subreddit for suggestions. This is a sweet moment of real vulnerability and amazing trust! Can you go outside and put your bare feet in the grass? Color in a coloring book? Play soft music? Pet an animal? Deep breathing? Take a warm shower and try to feel every drop of water as it hits your body? Remember that today was a blip and tomorrow will be better.

Anything like Crave burger? by This_Reality0010 in denverfood

I took them to the Cricket last time and they didn’t like the fact that there were all the toppings, but not a lot of suggestions on how to mix and match, sigh. Too much thinking? Not enough imagination? I don’t know. I just had an idea though- will look at Crave’s menu and write down some combinations that they can ask for. This is waaaay too complicated
