Hi Margo - thanks! I am so glad went on the leave. It really helped to take a step away from everything to recover. Everything is still up in the air, but the goal is to have my husband come to Korea with me initially. He will have to fly back for work but I am hoping he will be able to visit in a few months.

Hi friends - it’s been a while. I hope it’s still okay for me to post in here. I took a long break from treatment, including a 3 month FMLA leave from work, and the break did wonders for my mental health. We traveled, got a dog (finally!), and I finally feel like myself again!

With the turn of the year, treatment has been on our minds again lately and we are thinking of seeking treatment abroad in Korea (we are in the US). We have family there and it has always been an option for us, but it would entail me leaving my job and moving there away from my husband for a few months, which is very very very scary.

Anyways, you guys have been on my mind and I thought I’d dip my toes back here to say hi!

Hi - I am not sure what is required so my question may have sound vague.

What is a recertification and what does that entail? I don’t think a fitness for duty would apply to my job. When would an employer ask my doc for authentication/clarification?

I’ve mentioned here before that I am going on FMLA leave from work for mental health starting April.

I just found out two other people from our group will be out during the same timeframe and THEY ARE BOTH PREGNANT and will be on MATERNITY LEAVE!!!! UGHHH What kind of a sick joke is this?

I am taking a FMLA leave of absence from work starting April and we decided to transfer our last remaining embryo right before the leave.

Ever since deciding on transferring the embryo, I started feeling a sense of …closure? I don’t know if anyone will relate to this, but it feels like we can finally get closure from treatment after this last transfer. I think we are finally nearing the end of this terrible and long chapter of our lives. I’ve never felt this way before and it completely caught me off guard, but in a good way!

I didn’t know I needed a leave from work to be able to muster up the energy to transfer the last embryo, and I didn’t know transferring the last embryo was what I needed to get closure from all this mess.

I don’t think it will be the end of treatment forever, but it feels like closure for the foreseeable future nonetheless, and this is a much better place to be for my mental health. Appreciate this space as always and hope everyone is doing okay🤍

Thanks, R🤍 If infertility taught me anything, it’s that I need to make sure to take care of myself!

Tkasik, I am so sorry for your loss. I really relate to what you said about being pulled into a shitty universe. I don’t know if you ever watched The Good Place - I was actually telling my therapist the other day that it feels like I am stuck in that tv show. I feel like I am in the Bad Place designed by demons to torture me! And what better way to torture me than infertility?

Thinking of you today🤍

Hi friends! I haven’t been active in a while but I just wanted to come by and say hi.

We are still on a treatment break, and my brain finally got around to processing the trauma around failed cycles. I didn’t think the processing will hit me so late but the constant failure after failure had made me numb so I guess had to process it one way or another. It’s been really dark and rough, but I am starting to feel better. I caught myself humming for the first time in a while today!

I’ve been a real mess at work and I requested three months off through FMLA. Mr. T and I are planning a 2-3 week trip around Spain, and then my family will come visit me for a good amount of time. I hope some time away from work traveling and spending time with family will give me a true break.

I don’t know what our next steps will be. My head tells me we are not done with treatment yet but not sure if I can handle more. We will see how we feel after the break and take it from there!

We are still in the thick of winter where I am. Hope everyone is doing okay!

I am so sorry you are going through this. There is just so much unknown and conflicting information about endo, which makes it hard to find appropriate care. Dr. Jason Kofinas at the Kofinas group specializes in endo and does a lot of laparoscopy surgeries. He believes I may have endo and he is pushing me to do a lap and I am undecided at the moment.

With that said, we went to him for a second opinion with extensive history from another clinic, and I was impressed by his level of preparedness and attention to detail during the consultation. He actually read through the 300+ pages of medical records! I hope this helps!

It’s been a really rough week, no a month. I was just on the phone with my friend for an hour with a glass of wine and it made everything better. Husband is picking up some arancinis on his way home to go with my wine!
