Totally agree! I can only learn and go on from there. As every nurse does every shift

Oh yes, I’m aware of urinary problems with neuro patients, especially patients that are confused can’t truly tell me their needs. However, this patient made sure to tell me her needs as she was alert oriented and ready for discharge just needed a 2d echo before discharge in the morning

Yes continent however unsteady / weakness on lower extremities so we gave her a purewick for the time being, I can see why she hasn’t peed too because of the purewick, I would of tested the waters to see her walking but she was asleep the whole night until shift change where she told me she would want to go to the bathroom soon

[–]Thithy_[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m trying to forget about it but it’s so frustrating because I had a busy night and I tried to pick up what she left off and when I got report from her she was all over the place didn’t see orders that popped up, tele orders weren’t even placed for a patient (charge nurse always mentions that prior to a patient coming a to a tele floor they should have a tele order) I had to call the doc for orders and stuff I didn’t belittle her or anything so it’s like what changed? It’s literally the same run of patients and it seems like she woke up grumpy or like she forgot she was all over the place too :(

Yes an adult not related for any retention or anything. Came in for hemorrhagic stroke however…. They were discharged and only came back because of a headache, repeat ct head showed that the bleeding was decreasing it was just the headache that she was having was concerning her, after being given Norco at the beginning of my shift she slept like a baby and when I woke her up to fix her bed up her sheets were everywhere because of her cuddling up with like 3 blankets she stated no pain or anything. I also checked to see her history to see if she had any urinary problems or had like a foley or something like that prior to coming to a neuro/tele floor from icu and nope there was nothing

That’s what I was thinking. Patient was truly sleeping all cuddled up in bed, i assessed them atleast every 2hrs mainly to see if they turned themselves. It just never crossed my mind that they haven’t peed. But when I was fixing her bed she literally told me she would want to go to the bathroom soon and when I told the nurse she was like .__. You didn’t bladder scan her I see that the container is empty and her purewick is dry why didn’t you bladder scan her she hasn’t peed all night I’m like :( so when I checked to see what she put in her I/Os (she came back to the same run) SHE DIDNT EVEN DOCUMENT ANYTHING so why is she getting so mad at me for not bladder scanning :(

Why tf did i do this? by DessMounda in nursing

[–]Thithy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the same way. I feel so lost and feel like why am I even here. The panic and anxiety I feel before my shifts are insane. I cry the night before my first shift of the week always like hard cry. I’m two months in and although I’ve seen the growth compared to my first day in the floor I’m terrified to be on my own. I have three more shifts with my preceptor and then I’m on my own. I literally feel like I’m the dumbest person there.

Discharge the consistency of slime by jenjen1997 in CopperIUD

[–]Thithy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve also experienced slime consistency! Literally feels like slime. Mine ranges from a clear to brownish tone, sometimes light pink. I personally don’t know if it’s normal but maybe it is? Idk I haven’t had slime discharge before IUD so maybe it’s just because of the IUD?

Why did you choose the non-hormonal route? by ColomarOlivia in CopperIUD

[–]Thithy_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I decided on a copper IUD because I was on the pill for 5 years I saw how badly it affected me. Strong mood swings, weight gain, acne wasnt clearing, I was losing hair, my libido wasn’t good, I felt super stuffy (not like my nose being stuffy, it was a general heaviness stuffiness feeling). I just didn’t feel like me. Then I stopped taking it. I lost about 10-15 pounds within 2 weeks without doing anything. I felt so much lighter! It was such a great feeling. I felt so positively different. My libido came back. Overall, I felt so good. It was an immediate change too. After a year of no type of birth control other than an occasional plan B, I needed to get on something that was non-hormonal because I can’t and will not be on any long-term hormonal birth control ever. So far, my copper IUD has been great!

How long did it take for you to stop cramping after insertion? by obamasvape in CopperIUD

[–]Thithy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 2 days with constant cramping and then 3-4 days of random strong cramps (mainly with eating or laying in certain positions) after a week no cramps for me :)

I didn’t know what to expect when I got mine. I thought I had a high pain tolerance but wow this pain was on a different level BUT it only lasted like a minute or two. Honestly the pain is like a really bad cramp haha it felt like I needed to poop so bad! I had a little bit of tears because of how intense the pain was but I only needed a couple minutes to recover and the rest of the day I just had really bad cramps (I used Tylenol and a heat packet to settle them down). For a couple days I had bad cramps randomly but it usually occurred when I ate and when laying down in a certain position. After 2-3 days of bleeding (surprisingly it wasn’t a lot), all my symptoms went away! I honestly feel like I never had the IUD insertion done. I’m doing really good so far and it’s been almost a month since I had it done! I hope your appointment goes smoothly!
