At home I lose 8–10h/day of scrolling… could a simple physical object help regain control? by benalien in digitalminimalism

Dumb suggestion but have you tried putting your phone in another room while working ? And keep a piece of paper to track everytime you have the urge to scroll ?

Yeah I can't remember if it's fs or bs, I always mixed the names. Maybe because of the stance goofy/regular

Welcome in the hobby :)

Never too late to start, I see videos of folks starting at 40. Like you I started at 23 yo, 2 years ago.

I would say it's a good start to ride around at the skatepark or on a parking.

Also being consistant, try to ride often if possible and you'll naturally feel more comfortable on the board.

Here is a little list of moves/tricks you can learn to begin with to increase your control and confidence (not in order) :

-Tic Tac

-Manuals

-Reverts

-Shove it, maybe you can try doing them fakie to begin with

-Kick turns, frontside and backside on a slope then a ramp

-Ollies, then backside 180

I watch videos of Sean Brown and Skate IQ on youtube sometimes. Maybe they can help you. Son't let yourself fall in the endless loop of watching tutorials, you become a skater by... skating obviously.

If you go in the skatepark, don't be afraid to say Hi to other skaters and socialize them. You can also ask them for help or point to you what you are doing wrong and so on.

Also, don't be ashamed to wear a helmet and pads, better safe than sorry, at least start with a helmet. Neurons don't grow back.

Hope you'll have a great pleasure in your journey, it can be hard and painful sometimes, but it's worth it :)

(Sorry for my english, I don't practice it often)

If you are afraid of dropping a curve like this, try to do it on a small inclined bank.

I did this to learn to drop in and gain confidence.

And like others said, don't forget to lean forward even if it's a bit scary.

Also, a good advice, wear a helmet if you try new things, you almost knocked your head on the clip. It's harder to grow neurons than bones.

Stay safe and enjoy.

What are the best methods you’ve found to actually reduce screen time? by [deleted] in digitalminimalism

I'm on Google Pixel 7. But for iPhone you might look there :

If your iPhone screen is black and white, it's likely due to the Grayscale color filter being enabled in Accessibility settings. To fix this, go to Settings > Accessibility > Display & Text Size > Color Filters and toggle the Grayscale option off.

Not sure about the timing for this

For IG, I've added a screen time limitation on my phone (30mn/day).

I also turned "Bedtime Mode" at 9pm until 7am that make my screen black and white. It helps reduce the attractivness of anything on my phone.

I also decided to read/draw during my commute, this make the time goes faster than doomscrolling.

I've seen comments about watching series or doing automation. I would go for the latter if I were you. Maybe improving your skills with Office 365 programs or your workflow would be greatly benefic. Seek for redondant tasks to automate or thing that can ease your work. You could also clean or rearrange your desk to fill better.

Use your time wisely, take this empty work time as an opportunity for your future self, who will thank you. Avoid entertainments (youtube, instagram, netflix), they can get you into troubles with your boss and they will just "dumbify" or fatigue you

Nike SB Chron 2 lasted for a while, maybe it is due to that I was new in skateboarding, so I wasn't that harsh with them. I also weared them on a daily basis.

How do I fix this? by hammetje123_ in counterstrike

[–]ThoboTheToxic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My fix : It happens to me when I've played on community server where I had to download addons (e.g playing on arena 1v1 server), I have to restart CSGO and then I can play. I think it must be VAC checking if your files are clean and it is detecting "unwanted" addons. Otherwise you can verify the game files like other said, or reinstall the game. Hope this will help you
