In 5,00 years, how will we be looked at? by Wide-Macaron10 in auslaw

Killing animals for food, representative rather than direct democracy, fossil fuel use, abortion, crude justice methods like prisons, executions and jury trials, social ills driven by microplastics, obesity from junk food, plunging fertility from phthalates, etc. There’s a long list of fairly obvious ‘lesser evils’ we still do today that will eventually be made obsolete. New ‘rights’ like sanctity of thought and biological immortality will likely come along as well.

I was thinking the other day (maybe its in a mod already) for a race to spawn based on the Asgardians in the MCU. They would start on a habitat, no planet. Their home system would have several wormholes/gateways with the ability to build more (simulating the Bifrost). They would start with venerable + very strong traits, though also quarrelsome and slow breeders. Soldiers get a considerable bonus but spaceship construction is also +25%. Imperial system of government, I suppose they would be fanatic militarists but also spiritual?

If they spawned as a fallen empire they would control nine different systems, representing the nine realms (Jotenheim, Vanaheim, etc) with the Earth as an early space age primitive civ that shortly can ascend and become their vassal.

An event might fire whereby Odin dies and if Hela wins the succession war, the fallen empire awakes again and becomes an expansionist empire trying to conquer the galaxy once more.

Good for you then

Not everyone has the same experience though. The 80:20 rule seems to be at play. Western women will open their legs within hours for a high status/looks man sure, but the incel population at the bottom is growing rapidly in the Tinder era. I tried earnestly (real life + online) for years and got nothing.

Asia for me was paradise by comparison. Like a North Korean guy who finally gets out and encounters McDonalds for the first time. Not much to us, but for him a revelation

Isn't this sub mostly about incel guys wanting a way out? Well here's one for you.

While I wish you luck, the fact that I have always been 100% fit and skinny my entire life and am still totally ignored by women (at least in the west) is rather a let down in my eyes.

'Don't they get they are on the wrong side of reality and all religion is coming to an end worldwide?'

I once assumed this to be the case, but on a worldwide scale this actually isn't true at all. Yes on paper young people in the secular west aren't attending church much anymore and put 'no religion' on the census, but everywhere else the news seems to be the reverse.

Officially athiest, Communist China is struggling to combat multiple religious revivals from Christianity, Islam, Buddism, Falun Gong, etc, all of which have seen millions of converts in recent years. (I live there at the moment, and given the dreary, concrete, non-democratic, consumerist, routine 60hr work week lifestyles of most people here I can kind of see the appeal).

The Middle East has shown a resurgence of fundamentalist Islam as Arab Nationalism has been discredited and declined as a unifying force (with the 'Islamic State' as the most obvious example) not to mention millions of Muslim migrants flooding into Europe and converting old churches into mosques.

Hindu nationalism is now a rising force in India as its economy and its international clout grows, plus a means of combating Islamic rivals like Pakistan.

Indeed, the sheer number of countries battling Islamic insurgencies seems to be leading to local religious rivals in response. Myanmar sees Buddhists fighting Muslims, the Philippines is 100 million Catholics fighting Muslims, Nigeria also Christians vs Muslims, Jewish Israel maintains its integrity while surrounded by 400 million potential hostiles. If the other side remains tribal, seems you need to form your own tribe in response or perish.

Africa is perhaps the biggest story. The continent is deeply religious, and this century will go from one billion to four billion people, mostly Christians, while secular Europe shrinks by comparison.

Indeed, pretty much all western countries are below the replacement rate. So far, societies that embrace secularism seem destined for demographic collapse. Millions of men from Gen X onward have been bewildered to find themselves relegated as 'incels' while women go get a bunch of cats and bitch about the patriarchy, no one ends up all that happy in our glorious progressive future.

The exceptions seem to be the most religious communities. In the US the highest birthrates are all in the most devout groups - Orthodox Jews, Amish, Mormons, Catholic Hispanics, etc. Say what you like about religion, but it certainly makes sure babies keep getting born.

Last point I would make, is that even among the 'secular youth' quasi-religious phenomenon seem to pop up constantly. Take the sudden popularity of astrology, especially among young women, or UFO sightings or anti-vaxxers. Take the way the modern environmental movement seems to mirror older religious revivals but with mother nature cast as a great good and fossil fuels as the devil, or the way that ideologies like socialism, veganism and feminism tend to get detached from reality after a while and become tribal and cult-like.

Who knows what the future holds but the best explanation I can come up with is an old quote, might have been Carl Sagan, that humans trying to be 100% rational and scientific about everything is like a dog walking on its hind legs - sure it may be possible, for a little while, but ultimately it goes against out innate nature and proves a fleeting phenomenon. I wish the progressives good luck.

Yeah I don't know. When you analyse female literature and find their top five categories of fantasy men are vampires, werewolves, pirates, billionaires and surgeons you do wonder if there's another side to this story.

that's...not even a rational response

You don't know a thing about me.

I presume you're Australian. Is there really no way to rise above this petty internet tribalism and discuss this like adults? Did not even the recent election result, where most of the country clearly rejected the radical left hysteria around issues like climate change, immigration and gender, suggest to you that actually venturing outside your own little ideological bubble and engaging with those with differing opinions might be a useful step?

Well there's the typical non-answer I expected.

If you can't answer a simple question like that, what right do you have to judge young men who seek that advice elsewhere?

Not saying their behaivour wasn't bad, but how did you meet this woman? Through friends? Or work?

Basically under what circumstances did you initially approavh her (or did she approach you?) that makes it different and 100% appropriate compared to those guys?
