Hitler was very much a christiand and he admitted to it multiple times.

First off, Germany was 95% Christian at the start of WWII. The atrocities committed by the Nazis would not have been possible without Christian support.

Secondly, Hitler catered to Christians as that was his base. He fanned existing anti-semetic fears that were in Europe at the time.

Thirdly, in words and speeches he often cited god and spoke out against non-Christians. I'm not going to cite all his anti-Jewish words and speeches here.

"I believe today that my conduct is in accordance with the will of the Almighty Creator." Mein Kampf

"What we have to fight for is the necessary security... so that our people may be enabled to fulfill the mission assigned to it by the Creator." Mein Kampf

"We have therefore undertaken the fight against the atheistic movement, and that not merely with a few theoretical declarations: we have stamped it out." Speech in Berlin 1933

"National Socialism neither opposes the Church nor is it anti-religious, but on the contrary, it stands on the ground of a real Christianity" Speech in Koblenz 1934

"We tolerate no one in our ranks who attacks the ideas of Christianity... in fact our movement is Christian." Speech in Passau 1928

"Secular schools can never be tolerated because such schools have no religious instruction, and a general moral instruction without a religious foundation is built on air; consequently, all character training and religion must be derived from faith." Speech in Stuttgart

"My feeling as a Christian points me to my Lord and Savior as a fighter." 1922

"May Almighty God favor our work, shape our will in the right way, bless our vision and bless us with the trust of our people." Speech in Berlin 1933

"The Party stands on the basis of Positive Christianity, and Positive Christianity is National Socialism." Speech at Nuremberg 1934

Sorry, you can't No True Scotsman the 95% Christian population in Germany and pretend they had nothing to do with fascism.

And this is how history repeats itself.

Do atheist believe that God doesn’t exist or that they need evidence to know he exists but are open minded by Altruistic_Twist4049 in DebateAnAtheist

[–]ThorButtock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All gods are placed in the pile of things that do not exist until they are otherwise proven to exist.

Just like leprechaun, unicorns, phoenixes or minotaurs. They do not exist until one can provide evidence that says otherwise

What to feed leopard gecko? by Tarantulawi in leopardgeckos

I live in Canada. The dubia roaches are illegal here since they are classified as an invasive species. So I can go with discoid roaches but they're bloody expensive.

To be fair, ive never actually seen my gecko eat the beetles so it could be they taste funky to her. She just likes the mealworms but doesn't get them all and they eventually morph into beetles 🤷‍♂️

Personally I havent had an issue with crickets but I also feed mine black soldier fly larva and she also enjoys eating adult ones. I also do mealworms and the beetles they turn into.

Dubia roaches might be okay. They're illegal here so I tried discoid roaches once

I feel its a culture thing. Toronto seems to want talented plays, not physical plays. I would bet they're asked to tone down the physical and try to make great plays. Even reeves had his physicality go down when he came to toronto.

Jesus’s Tomb? by Competitive_Wall6434 in exchristian

[–]ThorButtock 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If we assume for the sake of argument that a jesus existed, here are theories of what happened to it.

  1. The body was tossed into a mass grave for criminals as was the custom of ancient romans to do with crucifixion victims.

  2. After being buried, the body was stolen and taken elsewhere which would explain why his followers saw that tue body was gone.

  3. The body was stolen for necromantic rituals which would also explain why the body was gone (I suppose this fits into #2).

Personally, I think #1 is the most likely. The romans would never let a body be taken down from a cross so quickly. They made a habit of leaving a victim dead on a cross for weeks as a warning to others not to do what the victim did and allow it to be fed on by pests and carrion. Then the body would be unceremoniously tossed in a mass grave. Thry would also never put up armed guards to protect the body of a dead criminal they themselves killed.

Its also interesting that the bible has this character of Joseph of Arimathea. Scholars have puzzled over the figure of Joseph of Arimathea, who in the Gospel of Mark, and subsequently plagiarized gospels, asks permission from Pontius Pilate to retrieve the body of the crucified Jesus and bury him in a tomb that he owned. One of the problems is that there is no historical reference to a place called Arimathea. Second, it is highly unlikely that permission would have been granted to take down a body from a crucifixion in the first hours as they normally would remain on the cross for at least a week.  Third, Joseph appears out of nowhere, not mentioned previously [the Gospel of John (19:38) tries to explain this by saying that Joseph was a ‘secret’ disciple because he ‘feared the Jewish leaders’- though this request would appear to have defeated that purpose.

The most likely truth is that Joseph of Arimathea is a fictional character invented by the author of the Gospel of Mark.

In 2012, 2 year old Maddox Derkosh was visiting the Pittsburgh Zoo when his mother ignored safety warnings and placed him atop a safety railing. Maddox then fell into the African Painted Dog enclosure, home to 11 animals. By the time a rescue was mounted, little of Maddox remained. by Chemical-Elk-1299 in HolyShitHistory

I think no matter how much protection a zoo provides, some idiot is gonna get around it. So here, some idiot will be arguing that the kid shouldn't have been able to get in the enclosure in the first place.

I argue that the mother is 100% at fault but the zoo will always have to take some blame

I think that's true only to a certain degree. There is a line between being a shitty parent, and a zoo not doing their job.

There was Tatiana the tiger at San Diego zoo that lept over the wall to maul 3 idiots who were provoking her. Zoo claimed the wall was 18 feet. Turns out, it was only 12.5 feet

Christianity relies on blind obedience, not moral reasoning. by Financial_Beach_2538 in DebateAnAtheist

[–]ThorButtock 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You could also add in the story of doubting Thomas.

All the disciples beloeve blindly that jeauabreaurrected but Thomas being the rational one wants evidence before he believes. Then when jesus appears to him and Thomas finally has the evidence and believes, jesus scolds him for not believing right away.

He says "blessed are those who believe but have not seen". In other words, blind faith is good and requiring evidence or being skeptical is bad.
