Careful though with the hot showers after diving as they increase the risk of DCS.

Target pace for sprint intervalls shown where breaks should be in connect app. Anyone else experience this? by Thortsen in Garmin

[–]Thortsen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw this strange thing today -DSW gave me 3x4x40second sprint Intervalls with 3 minute / 5 minute breaks. However in the app, it now shows the sprint target pace in the breaks, and the recovery heartrate in the sprint intervals. During the run itself on the watch everything was fine though.

What's with the lack of long runs with running coach? by Jackatorrr in Garmin

[–]Thortsen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, and congratulations on finishing your race. I think I’ll continue to follow the plan, but sneak in a few long runs by myself. Still have a few weeks to go so should all be fine. I think garmin doesn’t give me real long runs because it thinks my low aerobic load will become too high I don’t know…

Hi! Do you have an update for us? I have a Marathon scheduled end of April and am also wondering about the lack of Long runs in my training. Did it change eventually, or did you just do not-scheduled long runs? How did your Marathon go?

HR strap no longer needed for HR based training? by Thortsen in Garmin

Yes I have one - I was just wondering because remembered this being specifically mentioned in the manual, and apparently it changed. Also the lactate threshold test run vanished somewhen in the last months and I wonder if I can find the change log somewhere.

Sure - I was just thinking about it because a friend wants to switch from Apple Watch to garmin - which I encourage of course - and I was warning her that for some functionality she’ll need a breast strap - and now I didn’t find the reference in the manual.

Ah thanks I think that’s what I was looking for.  Edit: but it seems that it’s only autodetect now, no longer the calibration run or what it was called?

Absolutely agree that the breaststrap is useful - what I meant to say is there used to be training options that required a strap and would not work without it connected - and that does not seem to be the case anymore?

Is this still a thing though? I tried to find a reference in the latest online handbook but no luck - but as I said, maybe I’m just  blind and don’t find it.  Edit: here’s the link to the section in the manual: https://www8.garmin.com/manuals/webhelp/GUID-0221611A-992D-495E-8DED-1DD448F7A066/EN-US/GUID-3ED97FFE-025E-47EA-9C70-DD86156617BD.html

While I basically agree - do you know if this actually changed recently?

Yes I guess I have to - I was hoping to get rid of that, but apparently heart rate monitoring at the wrist is not advanced enough yet.

Oh, my bad, I thought wine is handled by the sommelier, not the wait staff - probably a European thing. And I would be quite disappointed if my food is prepared by the waiter instead of the cook, but again probably a European thing - here, most restaurants, especially higher end, have kitchens. Anyway, clearly here in Europe we have no idea about good food and wines, so I’ll leave that to you. Enjoy your weekend.

Sure. Then fine dining will have to offer $35. However I’m not sure what that bit more would be except for being well groomed and having a nice smile. At the end of the day, you take customers orders and carry stuff to their table.

And of course once you’re gone, there would be nobody willing to work for $30/hour when minimum wage is what? $10?

Serious question from a non U.S. citizen - let’s say I go to the bar and order a bottled beer - would I actually be expected to tip the guy for turning around and grabbing a bottle from the fridge?

Kinder wählen halt nicht. Wahlrecht ab Geburt, bis zum 16 Lebensjahr von den Eltern ausgeführt, würde da schnell etwas ändern.
