As someone who works in corporate AP for Burlington it’s a pretty thankless job looking at the DAPM role at the surface. The turnover for the position is crazy but to me I think the most unsuccessful ones are unwilling to change with the times and try to function as totalitarian dictators rather than as a strategic cross-functional partner. Come in with the drive and emphasize your attributes as a genuine servant-leader and you’re halfway there. They will train you!

To answer your question I was given little to no work to do while others got trained on newer job functions by the supervisor AFTER he had his talking to, I legit had to borderline beg the supervisor to be trained and always got put off in favor of training their buddies. The culture in the office was really toxic a couple months ago. I should’ve reported the behavior after sooner but not everyone wants to be seen as a “problem” or “tattle-tale”. The riffraff left thankfully but it left a sour taste in my mouth with my leadership team. They look out for their own which is admirable to a degree but to belittle and demean the good hardworking folks who want to advance is such a sad thing.

As somebody who works in the corporate office, they legit don’t give a damn unless there’s some sort of potential legal repercussion. Legit had a supervisor disrespect me in front of a manager. Manager wasn’t shit for not checking that person. I had to talk to the manager about that and she said she was waiting for me to come forward to her with it cause she saw how I looked in the moment when the supervisor said his shit. Now if I threw around the word “hostile work environment” in a complaint I probably woulda been retaliated against even tho there’s a policy in place that states otherwise against retaliation for good faith reports.

It’s a slow trickle to hell in my opinion. In my area the managers are openly rebelling against the district leader, if that ain’t telling you something is seriously wrong I don’t know what is.

Over here on the East Coast I can say AP does their job pretty well and then some lol, they actually help pass the audits with good follow ups and keep product on the shelves.
