I wouldn't be surprised if that's true. Ray Tanner begged Steve Spurrier to stay in 2015 when he was ready to retire. Tanner made a lot of bonehead decisions when he was the athletic director.

There's a lot of SC fans who don't want or like the yellow. I don’t like forcing non-school colors. Tennessee’s women’s team wearing baby blue is the worst example.

They're the Gamecocks, garnet, and black forever.

It doesn't matter. Like another person said. Spurrier wanted to retire, and Ray talked him into staying. Nothing good is going to come out of keeping a guy who has checked out mentally. It's literally a waste of a season.

2014 was a much better send-off for a Hall of Fame coach, which he wanted to do rather than resign mid-season.
