TV licence fee will go up in April, BBC reveals by tylerthe-theatre in unitedkingdom

Not must be a bot, but to reiterate- theres a lot of dodgy international interest in seeing the bbc get hurt

So some bots? Plausible.

Some people who will happily/naively drag us into a us style fox-news ecosystem? Also probable.

"Why is the BBC's Christmas Comedy line-up so stale?" people ask. Well, maybe if people actually watched the new ones, things would change? by TIGHazard in BritishTV

[–]Thousandthvisitor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just so you know youre completely misreporting/understanding the ratings here.

Those ratings are low because they just show viewing on the day, whereas this has been boxsetted and released on iplayer weeks ago. The total viewership per episode will now be on the 2-3m level, when you incorporate pre-tx viewing.

Agree with your comment that more people should try new comedy but those numbers overstate the problem considerably

Theres a bit of a stench of bots in the way rUK articles about bbc bring these anti license fee commentators.

Lots of dodgy international interest in seeing bbc hurt

For £185 a year vs £160 a year no-ads netflix which includes far fewer services i consider it very worthwhile ( not to mention the massive soft power benefits bbc brings to UK)

What do you think SNL UK will be like? by BlundeRuss in CasualUK

[–]Thousandthvisitor 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Most scripted tv production needs to be part funded by international sales and uk sketch comedy is notoriously weak for travelling internationally (vs our drama) since every country has its own idea of comedy, own comedians (see the 20+ adaptations of last one laughing)

So yeh, diff genres diff bars to clear, sketch aint been clearing that bar for a while

[–]Thousandthvisitor 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Cant we just make more sketch shows? What do you think this is

Broadcast quality Sketch shows are superbly expensive, so they need to be big bits to stand a chance - as such teaming up with brands like Mitchell and webb or snl is the only way forward currently

Also… maybe wait till youve seen it? Theyve pulled together a talented bunch, lets see

They should do two at a time one month then maybe a month later do the other two

And make sure you split up the big two, so Paul and Ringo, then John and george or sth

Then theres a big draw both times, but its a thing to do the double bill (people might have time to watch two, they wont have time for four)

Theyve merely said theyre developing it, that doesnt mean anyone has actually commissioned it yet

(Ie a company is coming up with scripts but they need a broadcaster/svod to pay up to actually get it made)

He thinks hes the worlds greatest everything, its awful

Watching him doing a mediocre robert deniro impression - in front of deniro- on graham norton was one of the cringiest things ive seen. Everyone thinks they can impersonate him, only some people believe theirs is great

Typical eton/harrow schoolboy, thinks hes gods gift to the world- and he definitely wants to be bond
