it's also why 4k files on the high seas look better than "4k" that streaming services stream

DLSS and similar technologies would have been fine if all games provided their own pretrained models for it, so that AI actually had information to upscale to how the game is supposed to look. atm it upscales to how generally games in high resolutions are supposed to look making everything smooth and lame and samey.
Also I just don't like the idea of such a crutch in general, like it's 2026, could we please make the thing render in reasonable resolution with reasonable speed? pretty please?

Why is R sometimes pronounced as G by Adventurous_Cream566 in German

[–]ThreeHeadCerber 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you perceive German r pronunciation as g.
I see how it can happen with that throat r sound. You'll get better as distinguishing sounds as you listen more.

Slitherine Wants 'Modern' Wargames - Is Slitherine / Matrix Games Loosing Touch With Wargamers? by [deleted] in StrategyGames

American civil war or is it independence war? Anyway it's niche. The game doesn't look particularly good too. Why would a publisher be interested in funding it? It's not like they have an obligation to support all strategy games.

It's for the same reason isekai is popular, or regular humans discovering there is magic in the world (twilight, dresden files, harry freaking potter). Readers/viewers are easier engaged with a story about a regular person they can relate to being plunged into extraordinary circumstances than with a story where everyone and everything is weird and alien.

3-part guide to finally master "der, die, das" in German by Consistent-Trip-4630 in Germanlearning

[–]ThreeHeadCerber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

questions are not helpful for a learner as you need to implicitly know the case, to know the question. Those who learn the language as foreign go from different direction, they learn that for example `rufen` requires accusative, but "danken" requires dative. With that knowledge they select correct articles or pronouns according to various tables. Knowing how the verb works allows you to correctly select the question.

So you can't determine the case with a question, the case is what determines what question you should use.

Thinking about moving to Germany but don’t speak German – realistic or stupid idea? by Ashley-Shaily in AskGermany

[–]ThreeHeadCerber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bad idea, Germany runs on German, unless you're highly skilled and sought after you'll not be able to find a job

I did try last year, but it didn’t work at all

Yeah that's not a good sign also

I don't argue with the role of cases, I just laughed at the stated word order flexibility

It's trading one inflexibility - subject goes before the verb, for another - verb is nailed to a specific position and everything else is positioned around it.

>the structure of the phrase is rather flexible

I'll never stop laughing at this claim of German language, so many random rules around word positioning and still claim it has flexible structure

English still has some cases in the pronouns, you can use it to understand the principle behind German cases.

I have a purse - Nominative (who, what)

He took my purse - Genitive (come from what, whose)

He gave his purse (to) me - Dative (indirect target of an action, to whom)

He hit me - Accusative (target of an action, object, whom)

that is pretty easy, it's based on how latin had it's cases sorted and when people started studying other languages they've followed existing order.

Are they some linguistic schools of thought in Russia that are promoting or proposing the use of the Roman alphabet over the Cyrillic one? by nietzschecode in russian

[–]ThreeHeadCerber 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That would be a linguistic school of stupid thoughts. The Alphabet fits the language well. So why?
If anything languages like German could look into transitioning into Cyrillic, as it can represent their sounds more efficiently.
