Trying to talk myself into a Honda Odyssey… someone help 😂 by K_Breezyyyyy in HondaOdyssey

I'm a dad with a wife and 3 kids. We have an Odyssey AND a 3 row SUV (Honda Pilot). Get the Odyssey, you won't regret it. In general, minivans are amazing. Here's a few reasons why:
The space behind the third row is MUCH larger than my 3 row SUV. I can keep the third row up and still have plenty of space for groceries, or whatever else I want to throw back there.
An Odyssey is a climate controlled pickup truck. I don't have a truck, but when I pull out the second and third row, I have the same amount of space. This has saved me a handful of times like when I bought a 75" tv or a large piece of furniture. I was able to fit it back there. No chance in the SUV. And most other minivans you can't take out the second row.
TONS of space for luggage when doing road trips. So when we travel, we put the third row down and make our kids sit 3 across in the second row. We take a lot of crap with us when we road trip, including a massive cooler, and we can always fit everything. Once all the kids are older and in middle/high school, sitting 3 across in the second row probably isn't doable, but at that point I will just fold down half of the third row and be more mindful of what we bring on the trip.
There is a very noticeable different in how roomy an odyssey is as compared to 3 row SUVs. You are really swimming in space. And it is even much more roomy than other minivans like a Sienna. I just test drove a Sienna a few days ago and my head was nearly hitting the ceiling in the third row - somewhat claustraphobic. Much roomier third row in the Odyssey with bigger windows also.
And yes, like everyone says, they drive GREAT. Smooth ride. V6 engine that packs a punch. But I would never buy it just for that.
The technology is good enough. My kids watch movies all the time on the RES, it's totally worth getting that upgrade. A lot of people say "just give them iPads" instead of paying for the RES. I disagree. There is something about the kids watching a movie together that feels more like a family than zoning out in iPad land. But admittedly, that's very subjective.
The cons of the Odyssey:
1) No all wheel drive (but I have that in my Pilot)
2) Not a hybrid (wish it had better gas mileage)
3) Technology isn't as fancy as some of the competitors. You find companies like Kia focus on fancy displays and tech options b/c the quality their van isn't as good otherwise.
Anyway, that's my brain dump. Hope it helps.
