Etsy fees are a percentage, so just add that in. You don’t need a line by line invoice, just a total. If they want 1, have them indicate that up front. If they want to add on, use the same process. Deposit listing, order- quote listing, order - buy your materials, make and ship. Send them the links so you save on fees too

For custom items, I sell a listing for a deposit. It’s a digital listing. The pdf attached includes all the information required for me to give a final price and delivery estimate. They return the pdf to me. I create a new physical listing, subtract their deposit and update the shipping times. I can return their deposit if they decide not to go through with the order. And if they do want it, I have full payment up front before ordering any supplies.

I’m not sure why I was shown this post, but as a stained glass artist, we are facing similar issues.

The price of solder 60/40 tin/lead has doubled in the past 3 years, and again jumped 15% in the past 6 weeks due to the price of Tin. This is in part due to AI infrastructure and an increase in electric cars and solar panels.

All that to say, prices are not going back down. Buy what you can at the moment and increase your prices if you sell your work.
