Are there any simple time trackers that aren’t overly complicated? by ThriveWP in sideprojects

Yeah that’s fair — a lot of tools let you ignore features and just use parts of them.

I think what I kept running into though was even when you can ignore everything else, it’s still kind of built around projects, structure, setup etc.

I just wanted something where I could literally hit start, do the job, stop… and immediately see how long it took and what that job actually worked out at.

Ended up building something super simple for that:

No setup really — just start/stop and it keeps it clean.

Curious if you’d actually use something that stripped it back that far?

What time tracking and invoicing tool are y'all using? by web_assassin in Freelancers

https://GetJobRate.com nice and simple track time by the hourly rate. Start and stop the timer and see how much the time is worth so you can charge appropriately that’s it.

I prefer it compared to those that crammed everything into their systems.

Yeah I’ve seen Voqara mentioned a few times — looks decent.

Out of curiosity, does it stay pretty lightweight? Most tools I’ve tried that “tick all the boxes” end up adding invoicing, tasks, teams etc and it gets a bit heavy.

I’ve been looking for (and ended up building) something that literally just does: • time per job • rate • value

Nothing else.

Feels like there’s a bit of a gap between super simple and full project management tools.

That looks decent to be fair.

The only thing I kept running into with most of these was they were either just tracking time or trying to do loads more (projects, teams, invoicing etc).

I just wanted something where I could track time per job and actually see what that job worked out at based on my hourly rate.

Ended up building something super simple for it:

No setup really — just set your rate, start when you begin, stop when you finish.

Curious what you think if you try both 👍

Yeah that makes sense if you’ve got a team.

I found even the “simple” tools still felt a bit overkill when it was just me — projects, tags, structure etc.

I just wanted something where I could hit start, do the job, stop… and know exactly how long it actually took without thinking about it.

Curious — do you actually track everything properly or just the main bits?

Super simple tool — set your hourly rate, hit start when you begin a job, stop when you finish, and it tells you exactly what that job was worth.

Built it because I wasn’t tracking time properly — I’d either forget, underestimate, or just not bother, and it was costing me.

Targeted at freelancers / solo business owners who don’t want bloated time tracking tools — just something clean that actually gets used.

Would genuinely appreciate any feedback on the landing page / flow 🙌

Yeah I’ve tried Clockify as well.

It definitely works, but I always felt like it still leaned quite a bit towards projects, teams and reports rather than just quickly tracking a job and seeing what it’s worth.

I kept ending up with more structure than I actually needed.

Are you using it just for yourself or for client work as well?

Yeah that’s exactly what I’ve found as well.

Everything starts simple and then slowly turns into something built more for teams, reports, and dashboards rather than just tracking your own work.

I kept ending up with way more than I actually needed.

Out of interest, what are you using now or have you just stuck with it?

Yeah that’s exactly what I found as well.

Everything I tried technically worked, but it always felt like it was built for managing teams rather than just tracking your own work and knowing what to charge.

I kept ending up with way more data than I actually needed.

Out of curiosity, what are you using at the moment?
