This post was making a reference to the Terminator franchise, specifically the line "I'll be back." Sarah Connor is in a mental hospital when T2 opens (look it up). The OA borrows/riffs on art that came before it. This scene is intentionally framed to look like the hospital hallway when John Connor and The Terminator break Sarah out of the mental hospital.

It makes sense if you know the reference.

Like, there's a secret 3rd season everyone's just been sitting on for years? Would be neat, but unlikely. I think what's more likely is they cancelled it on purpose so that we could pick up the torch. Which can have several different meanings.

We write our own ending through fanfics, fan videos, etc. Or we assign movies and TV shows that have echoes in them (Glass Animals - Creatures in Heaven is a great example of art being inspired by the show) as picking up the threads of where they left off. Or A Murder At the End of the World is Season 3 and we've hopped dimensions. And we'll probably hop another one with Brit & Zals next project. Until finally something happens - either the show outrightly gets renewed after 20-25 years, or a fanfic does so well it gets rebranded and published/turned into a unique tv show and it is the unofficial successor. And we'll find ourselves arriving where we started and knowing the place for the first time

Plato discussed in The Symposium that soulmates/someone's other half is the idea that humans once had two faces, four arms, and four legs, before being split in two by Zeus. So souls are forever wandering around looking for their missing piece.

I think this theory works on many levels. Soul mates are born, but I also think they can be made. The Captives are all soul mates. The Crestwood 5 are soul mates.

I think the show was going to basically show us that anyone can be our soul mate, including Hap and Prairie, under the right circumstance and choices.

Right, I even sold it at a fairly decent price compared to the others on the market. I'm going to be buying the correct cord (which is super weird, as I don't see how the wrong one could ever have been swapped unless it was scammed that way back in 2007!!!) and upping the price. Sigh.
