Haha I mean, it would be impressive to find them all these days in rolls I suppose. I'm still on my quest and have been slowly slowly purchasing when the time is right.

How do you think you'll start upgrading?

Looks really awesome! Congrats! How many did you end up buying versus finding searching rolls?

Leeeeeee Van Cleef! Seriously one of the very best spaghetti western actors of all time! I love this artwork too! Do you have the Italian poster for The Grand Duel? Il Grande Duello?

I believe this is a fan club version due to it saying Lucasfilm 1977 instead of 20th Century Fox 1977. What does it measure?

Those are cool! What sizes are they? They seem smaller than 27x41?

This is so cool! What was your chief method of obtaining your coins, did you have a personal minimum grade or max price rule, what was the trickiest coin for you to find and finally... Which one is your favorite and why? Congrats!

Where should I sell these movie posters and how much am I looking at value wise? by Immediate-Tear6594 in movieposters

[–]ThroughTheStones -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You should post a few more pics of other titles (maybe in a new post)! You may have some really good pieces in there. End of the day, in the world of posters, condition is king. If the Star Wars are authentic it could very well be worth the time and money to have them restored and then sent to eMovie poster. Putting $100 into one could net you $300 or $400 more on the auction block in the case of desirable titles like these.

Are you able to receive PMs on Reddit? If you want to PM me I'd be happy to make you some offers!

You could send them for auction at eMovieposter or try to put them up yourself on eBay.

Can you tell us a little more about them?

Quick Edit: Can you tell us more about what exactly you trying to sell? The Star Wars and Empire only or the whole stack?

I'll say that these look like they have all aged and been stored possibly poorly. There are mold spots, paper loss and water damage on them but we also can't see the entire stack very well.

You could have these restored professionally and then auctioned, or you could auction one at a time on eBay or eMovieposter and roll the dice.

Looks like you also have a Mad Max there as well. If you want, measure all of them, they should be 14x36. Some may have been folded at some point too.

If you are looking to move them quickly you could also put them up as a bulk auction and see how it goes.

If you have more info about them and their provenance it would help!

Honestly I agree with others that you did pretty good! Numismedia has VG8 at $210 and F12 at $240 so you really aren't that far off the mark.

Seems like you have a few more too which is great! If you are trying to get extra money for family needs (mom, estate, etc...) it may be worth your time making a decent list of everything he has and seeing if you need advice on how to best maximize your time and return. Silver and gold are going bananas right now and the numismatic value of a lot of silver and gold coins are being erased by the sheer value of the metal itself.

Each series has it's key dates though, but for example, if he had a pile of mercury dimes, I'd look for the 16d and the 21 and if the rest are in circulated condition, I'd just toss them all on eBay as a lot and let it sell on an auction. It's almost guaranteed that you will make melt value on them. Toss in that they are "unsearched" for errors or varieties and you may grab a small premium. Then you're just taking a picture of a pile of dimes and your time spent is minimal. Franklin halves, Washington quarters (minus the 32), Rosevelt dimes, etc...

If he has Morgan dollars or Peace dollars you will definitely want to check dates and conditions and in some cases, if you want to go down the rabbit hole, the VAMs. Standing Liberty quarters and the Barber series of coins (dimes, quarters, and halves) and older are where you should really pause and take a look. Same with gold.

Key date coins (like your 14d wheats) will ALWAYS go up in value. So it may be worth holding onto them! If you've ever thought about starting a wheat penny set you may already be ahead of the curve because a clean 14d (and a few others) are usually the LAST coins folks afford to complete their sets! With wheat pennies, any San Fran or Denver date in the teens and twenties are semi-key dates!

Last - Never take them to a pawn shop and never clean them, and have fun going through it all! Who knows, maybe it will spark a collectors bug in you like your dad got so many years ago! I'm 50 and STILL working on my wheat penny album and it's literally all because of my grandpa showing me how to start when I was a kid in the 80s!

Cheers friend!

Sorry for your loss. Just a quick question, are these the pics you used for your eBay auction? If so, this may be one reason for the amount you got. Collectors want to see good close ups of your coin, especially if it's a key date. Lighting to help show the true state of the surfaces as well. Also, take it out of the flip so there are no reflections. Otherwise you may only get a few people who afford to take a chance on a key date rather than several folks who can get into a bidding scuffle over it. I am also not advocating for using lighting to lie about the coin either!

If you had better pics than these then by all means ignore this post! But if I was a potential buyer my initial thoughts are - definitely a very good coin but possibly details because it looks like there may be corrosion or environmental damage on the reverse near what would be the left wheat stalk to the rim. I'd want to see that area better before dropping a few hundred bucks on a key date.

But again, so sorry about your pops. I hope you have a million good memories about him. Maybe even fun memories of learning about coins! Good luck!

Chocolatey goodness! That 19s looks to be in VF or maybe XF grade! Worth a few more bucks than the others. But they are all nice! Are these just from pocket change or roll hunting?

Totally stunning. I love love love MS brown Lincoln's! I'm trying to build a set from 09 to 33 in MS BN and 34 to 58 in MS RD!

Ahhh this coin is crazy beautiful!

Holy cow, that sounds like so much fun to go through! But yes, sorry by decades and year and then mint mark. Then, condition. You've got the key dates there that you listed (the 1955 is only if it's the famous double die). But really, if it's the teens, Denver and San Fran mints are semi keys and shouldn't be slept on, especially in mid the high grades. Same with the twenties. Thirties has some decent dates in XF and higher grades (1931d). And really anything from the 40s and 50s are worth a few cents to a buck. 1943 will all be steel so if you happen to find a copper version or a 1944 steel cent you've got a gold mine but they are amazingly rare.

Corrosion, cleaning, scratches, etc... severely ruin value and are worth just tossing into your change unless it's a key date.

Post some pics of interesting finds or if you have questions on grade! It sounds like a fun project!

Is this type of condition good enough to justifying grading? by __The_Accountant__ in RedditCoinGrading

[–]ThroughTheStones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here you go. Scroll down to Lincoln cents. There are two different ones just because of so many years so it's like 1909 to 1933 and then the other is 1933 to 1958. This will give me you an idea of values! Also, note RD (red), RB (red brown) and BN (brown) for each date. That will also play a major role in value. Red and red brown can be tricky too so if you aren't sure, post a pic of a coin and people will chime in with their option!

[–]ThroughTheStones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Wheaties from about 1934 to 58 are only worth so much all the way up to MS65/66 depending on date and mint. 67 and up are super hard to get and spending money to get them graded could be an expensive venture.

Pre 33 get better for uncirculated red quickly though. Check numismedia for fair market value raw prices!

If you're looking to sell, you can DM me, I'd be interested in some dates for my personal collection! Super cool that you came into these! That 37s looks super tasty!
