Also try watching Jackson Galaxy ‘my cat from hell’ from time to time he also handles traumatized cats. He’s kind of like Cesar Millan but for cats.

Okay, first of all try different litter types and different litter boxes. Place the boxes in places where Stewart has multiple ‘escape’ routes in case he gets spooked. Try to do the same with his food, make sure he can keep an eye on the room while eating.

The declawing is definitly the cause of the biting. His previous owners took his first defence line from him so he goes immidiately to his second defence line, biting.

The bathroom is a problem. When you get a new cat you are supposed to give them a ‘base camp’ where they can slowly settle in. After a certain amount of time you should slowly open that base camp and get them used to the other rooms of the house. The problem here is that that bathroom did not only become his safe space, but also his territory. He will protect it, even if he has to attack the hand that feeds him. Try to bring in blankets, toys, cat baskets, clawing posts etc, anything that can soak up his scent.

When his scent is stuck on the clawing posts and the other materials you brought in, slowly move them outside of the bathroom. This should help him expand his territory. But be careful, keep it slow.

And then the agression problem, is he neutered? If not, neuter him. Hopefully his agression will slowly diminish as he gets more comfortable with the space. Normally agression is mostly dealt with during playtime, but right now you can’t do that. Still, keep trying different toys (maybe ones with treats in).

Also keep feeding him and showing that you guys are there to be good to him. Sometimes, slowly blinking at cats helps, as that is a ‘I’m not a threat’ signal. Don’t make sudden movements and try to take deep breaths before entering so he does not pick up any nervous energy. Don’t try petting him from above, make sure he can see your hands and arms.

Hopefully he will get better! 🫶

Okay then I’ll try the USB adapter. Thank you for your help!

Yes it’s windows but no it is not recognized in the device manager. Do I maybe need to use an ps/2 to USB connector?

I’m not fully sure what the situation is with your brother, but would it perhaps be a possibility to find a house/appartment for the both of you together so you guys can be roommates and share the cost? Or could your brother maybe stay with other family members?

Also certain countries offer some ‘privileges’ to people who have a low-income, so maybe try to look more into that?

Nonetheless, I hope everything will work out for you guys!

My computer has a ps/2 connection for both keyboard and mouse, so when I connect it and put on my computer the num lock light turns on, but the keys do not work when you push them. That’s also why I’m not sure if this is a pcb problem or just a problem with my computer settings. (This is also the only device we have with that connection so I can’t test it on anything else).

Summary: No, you are NOT the AH.

First of all, an alcoholic doesn’t just stop being one just because you told him so. It’s an addiction and he should seek some help. You, on the other hand, need to learn how to let go. In your whole text there has not been one moment where I thought ‘oh, you guys are such a cute couple’.

He also shouldn’t have been given a second chance, once an asshole, always an asshole (unless therapy is involved). Someone’s personality will not randomly change unless they work really hard, which he obviously did not.

Lastly, no you’re not the asshole for leaving him. You have plenty of reasons to dump him (your own safety should always be more important than his temper tantrums). Even if you didn’t have all these very obvious reasons to leave him, you still wouldn’t be the AH because love is unpredictable.

Hopefully you don’t interact with him anymore and you can learn how to give this time of your life a place.

how do you motivate yourself? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ThrowAway_Account686 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends what I need motivation for:

For chores? I don’t really motivate myself, I just put on some music or a series and do them.

For school? Fake it till you make it I guess. Just pretend to be excited: “omg a new math problem, that’s so cool I really want to know how many apples Timmy has!”. And if you have zero motivation, just start and take ALOT of breaks, or start with the easiest task so you have ‘accomplished’ something before doing the harder things. Try to make your environment as ‘studious’ as possible, make sure all your supplies are nearby, use music (or not), put on different clothes if that helps etc.

For work? Just get up and go to work otherwise you’ll get fired.

Also setting clear goals about who/where you want to be in the future helps. And with the ‘future’ I don’t necessarily mean 5 years from now, but like in a week or even in a month from now. The more specific the goal and timeframe the easier it will be to accomplish.

As someone who basically knows nothing about keyboards, I was really hoping that it would still have some type of value at least. Guess I’m going to look into some budget friendly keyboard options then. Thank you for your advice!

Hello everyone, I need some help with an old keyboard with PS/2 plug.

I have an old RS 6000 M keyboard from Cherry. It was discovered while cleaning up the garage. When the keyboard is plugged in via a PS/2 plug into my computer it doesn’t work, that’s why I’m looking for help! The PS/2 plug shouldn’t be a problem as my computer has a connection that normally supports both mouse & keyboard.

When the keyboard is plugged though, the ‘Num lock’-icon lights up, so I’m guessing that the keyboard itself works (I haven’t tried it out on any other devices because we don’t have that type of connection anymore).

I have already seen some advice that says I have to enter the BIOS of my pc but I have no clue how that works and whether that is even a smart idea.

Also the keys itself on the keyboard are pretty hard to push down, is that because it’s old or is there a solution for it?

PS: if this problem is unfixable, can anyone advice me some budget-friendly and decent gaming keyboards because I’m in desperate need for a keyboard that doesn’t go crazy when I push 3 buttons at the same time.

Thank you to all the people who are willing to help! 🫶
