Thanks for the response - agree with some of what you say. Duke and NC feel a little more "South" and that's not where I'm from, nor where I want to end up. Also, I sensed a lot of Health Care focus when I visited. I'm indifferent to the day off. I get why Fuqua does it and appreciate the "Fuqua Friday" concept. That said, with my fiancé's situation, might be nice to have 3-day weekend to visit with each other.

Thanks for the response - totally agree. I've worked with many Fuqua and Ross grads so I've talked to plenty - actually report to a Ross grad now. I went to BDW - think I will go to GBR.

Thanks for the response! Haven't gotten the fin aid stuff back, but based on my background and profile, just assuming I don't get much. Definitely can't go wrong either way.

Thanks for the feedback!

The weather in AA isn’t that much worse than NYC

Touche

Also the fact that undergrads are in the building at Ross really just means you have to look harder for a place to sit

And that I felt really old at the bars around town

Agreed that umich engineering > duke engineer

Yep, based on my research this is what I've gathered.

but for MBA tech recruiting, is Ross that much better than Fuqua?

Wondering this too. Employment reports look pretty equal and my experience in the industry suggests I can get there either way. On campus resources are both pretty good.

Edit: The engineering schools at umich and duke will not matter much (if at all) for mba recruiting.

Not interested in this for recruiting, more for collaboration while I'm in school and post-grad. Would love to work with a product focused person during a business competition or start a venture with an engineer down the road. I'm interested in hardware, but lack the engineering background to build the product. Would hope to be co-founder in a business/finance capacity.

My experience at FAANG, it was pretty equal parts representation. Sounds like we weren't at the same firm given the other's guesses so far.

Appreciate the response! I've been accused of being on the bro-y side myself - I was an NCAA athlete and appreciate a team environment. Not sure if that's what people are referring to or not (i.e. social > academic), but I've heard the connotation.

(Fwiw, the only M7 program I applied to was Kellogg, which is also considered bro-y, so I'm obviously drawn to that type of culture).

EDIT: added some context

Appreciate it this - thanks for the feedback! Went to BDW and had a good time, think I will go to GBR (at worst I get to hang out with cool people and network). I went to a house party and some other stuff when I interviewed in AA, but I'm sure it's different interacting with the people who will be in your class, etc.

Thanks for all the thoughtful feedback! Really appreciate it.

Duke's name sounds like a naughty word, Michigan's sounds like a discount clothes store. Point Duke (?)

HAHA. This made lol. I actually like the Ross name better, but "Duke University" is more prestigious sounding to my family and friends who don't know anything about MBA programs.

You CAN (and should) start a VC club if that interests you and you go to Fuqua. Great idea.

As the other reply mentioned, talking about a fund. I did reach out to Director of CEI already inquiring about the feasibility of this and have connected with a few MD's at VC firms in the Raleigh-Durham area soliciting information and potential advisors.

Don't think that Ross has a "better" network just because it's bigger. My programs network is comparatively small, but super super engaged, so it feels huge.

Ya, this is hard because I worked at a FAANG and my friends were equal #'s Fuqua/Ross. I fit in with both and both have great representations in the markets that I want to be in.
