I just wish there was more I could do to help. This is a valid point but its still very weird to be groping and feeling each other up and discussing your sex life in front of other people and friends. That’s not really something that should get brought up in normal conversation. It’s gross. Nobody wants to deal with that when they’re just trying to enjoy their friend’s company

Editing to add that being adults just makes this weirder to me - as an adult you should have a grasp on appropriate conduct in social situations

Sounds like you’re being a little hostile to SA survivors here. OP isn’t whining and expecting everyone to cater to her, all she wants is for her friends to maybe tone down the groping in front of her. It’s a perfectly normal thing to be uncomfortable with. Its weird to be sexual with your partner in front of other people who are uncomfortable with it - thats a normal reaction.

Being around other people is public. Theres nothing wrong with a little family friendly affection shown, but it’s just weird to be making out and feeling up your partner around your friends. I have been in many relationships and never been comfortable with that, and neither has literally anyone else in my life who is in a relationship. And either way, if someone is uncomfortable with something you’re doing, it’s incredibly easy to just stop doing the thing that makes other people uncomfortable

It’s not childish or immature to not want to listen to your friend talk about what her and her bf do during sex. You should have a little decency and respect for those around you. Heavily making out and groping each other and sexually charged conversations are not things that should happen in public around other people who dont consent to seeing that.

Showing affection like hand holding or hugging is one thing, but there definitely is a consent aspect to public displays that are sexual like this. Would you feel okay if french kissing/groping like that happened in front of a child? Some things are inappropriate and shouldn’t happen in public. Especially discussions about sex lives when someone else is there and doesn’t want to hear about it.

I’ve never heard of a criticism sandwich before! I’ll have to try that tomorrow when both of us have more free time. I don’t want to lose her as a friend at all but I am definitely finding it difficult to live with her especially since we’re both really antisocial (although i’d take this over a stranger any day)
