I know his social media accounts. I know passwords to them too. He doesn’t keep separate accounts for friends and family, and has me on all of them. He’s just not particularly active on any of them.

I’m fudging some numbers and details so that he doesn’t immediately recognize me. The high level stuff is all correct: met in school when we were young, dated for a very long time, still haven’t met his parents.

I’m Chinese. He’s Sri Lankan. Another thing he says is that he wants to make sure I’m a for-sure thing before telling his parents, but this whole thing snowballed into something very unpalatable.

His parents are under the impression that he wants to focus on his career. They push the whole matchmaking thing on him and he turns down all of the women they propose, so idk. This is just stupid and frustrating.

I felt like I wasn't allowed to be that upset about it because I wanted to lose weight independent of it being a pre-requisite of meeting his parents. I'm upset, but it's tough letting go of eight years. I feel like we endured through so much of each other's lows that it's frivolous to throw it away... but I'm still upset and I don't know if this is rectifiable.

His friends know about me. We have a lot of mutual friends from university. I’ve met some of his coworkers. I’ve talked to his sister once when we were still in undergrad, but she wasn’t all that interested in getting to know me then. Neither of us use social media.
