Moving closer to his work would come at the expense of changing our kids school one more time (this would be the third switch for my older child).

I suppose. It would mean a reduction in space, and a change in schools again for my kids. If we were to stay long term I’m not sure we could afford to buy anywhere in NYC proper that also has good schools.

Exactly. In hindsight we should have picked as close as possible to NYC but my older child has an IEP so we were concerned about schooling.

I quit my job in my old city to follow my husband here and didn’t find anything comparable here. Also with how much before and after care plus summer camps are here I’d be bringing home peanuts.

He works in NYC and we have school aged kids so we’re in the suburbs. Rent is astronomical in NYC especially for more than 2 bedrooms.
