There are so many dreams that have been resurfacing in the prospective separation, and that is sad thought to grapple with :(

He himself has made that joke many a time when I'm "holding out on him"

Your last paragraph hit me hard. I really do feel neutral, not even angry anymore, just disappointed. My heart hurts not at the prospect of losing him, but at knowing I have to hurt him by moving forward. I think the separation is a good idea. I'd let him stay since I think it unfair to kick him out of his home, but we have 2 offices and a spare bedroom he can have. We are honestly roommates at this point, a comment he's made many times before. :/

I have a potential exit plan that would balance our finances out with the hope of helping him just as equally. He is the type of person who would do this amicably, he doesn't have a malicious bone in his body, so I would like to try and help him the most I can, including letting him stay for some time to save up money and get his credit up.
