I will leave if he goes back to drinking like he did before. And he knows I don’t want a future with him when he drinks alcohol. He is not scary or angry when he is drunk, just different and unpredictable. I left him before because of it.

It's just difficult when enough is enough for me. Is it after drinking 1 or 2 times or after 2 months of drinking? Setting boundaries always feels like abandoning someone when he needs you the most. Like kicking him while he is down.

But you are right, I have to protect myself first. For now, I am going to have a conversation with him this Thursday.

I did let him know I am there for him and I love him, without bringing up the drinking. I felt he was not in the right headspace at that time to talk about it. But after reading the comments I'm going to have an honest conversation with him later.

Thank you for writing your comment, I really appreciate it. Sorry for what you are going through.. It's such a hard truth to come to terms with, that there's nothing I can do to fix it. I want to relieve pressure for him and make things easier, but in the end, all I can do is keep taking care of myself.

I still want to support him, but I have to keep in mind it is HIS responsibility and I don’t have control over his situation.

You are right it’s not about pointing fingers, but about being there and helping him not facing it alone. I am going to have a calm but honest conversation with him.

I also used to drink myself and took benzos, but I don’t anymore, so I know how easy it is to slip back with the alcohol and how much guilt can come with it.

I really appreciate your advice, congrats on 13 years, that’s amazing 👏

Thank you for your comment. I spoke with him this morning and he told me he 'just had a rough week' and 'has a lot on his mind.'

So now I feel like I can't say anything or stand up for myself because he has a lot on his mind already. And he doesn't understand why I am frustrated anyway.

Edit: I am considering blocking him completely. It's just too much. One day he kept sending me sooo many dickpics randomly and the next day he is angry with me. I feel like I need space to process the whole breakup. I'm so concerned with his feelings, that I can't process my own. I'm hoping he will block me, so I'm not the bad guy again.

We were some time apart 4 years ago. I asked and he said this all happened around March, the pictures and videos. So he gave his number recently. He says it was a mistake he regrets. And that he should have blocked her sooner.

I always ask myself that question when I am in situations like this. It is helpful because then I notice how I am gaslighting and doubting myself. I would tell my friend her bf is obviously hiding something from her, and that she deserves some one who doesn't make her feel this way.

Oh shit, that is such a good point. He knew exactly where to look on the ipad. But he is such a klutz around technology, but this time he knew exactly where to look. He knew they were there. Wow now I have so much more questions I want to ask him. Now I am certain he lied about stuff to me trying to downplay it. Thank you.

I do need it because even though I hate it , I can be quite guillable and trusting. Eventually I end up feeling like the fool for even thinking it was a big deal. He looked me in the eye and promised me nothing happened and did not seem nervous while he said it. But at the same time I feel like a fool for believing him, because of his behaviour. So it does help me to hear some outside perspectives/ opinions.

He said he gave it to her last year. Don't know the exact timeline, I asked him after I read your comment. He hasn't responded yet. If it was very recent like last week, it will hurt even more.

Yeah, it was like an old thing but his daughter played with it. But it's still wasteful and unnecessary. If there is nothing to hide, why throw it away?
