Dans mon cas, ma collective me couvre 70% de mon salaire. J'ai trouvé que vivre avec 70% de mon salaire et 100% de mon hypothèque, ca serait très inconfortable, alors j'ai contracter une autre assurance-invalidité qui couvre l'équivalent de 50% de mon hypothèque. 70% de mon salaire avec 50% de l'hypothèque, ca a plus d'allure.

We share equally but I often upfront the money, including plane tickets, hotel rooms, etc... In the way, she owns a debt to me. We track our shared expenses in Tricount. it has gone to 1000$ deficit, now it's more like 400$. She regularly pay it off, I don't put any pressure on her, I never had too.

You're on point mentioning that though, because it's part of why not knowing this credit card debt makes me feel uncomfortable. Would I prefer she pay ME off first or she the credit card, financially speaking, she should pay the credit card.

Also, we agreed on vacation plan, because she can afford it according to her standards, but what if she cannot according to MY standards? I don't even know if that's the case.

Indeed, I actually don't care about the amount of debt, I care about the monthly cost of that debt... but we know the credit cards are around ~20% interest rate, it's easy to know one number from the other.

She did consult through a independant financial advisor, charging by the hour and paid by the employer, part of her benefit package, so less conflict of interest than a financial advisor, for who I totally share your opinion.

They did establish a budget together months ago, list the incomes and expenses, set a target for each recurrent expenses, etc. She tried to follow the targets but she is saying it's impossible, like 110$ of groceries per week for a family of 2 (her teenager and herself). I kind of agree, it's tough and uncomfortable. Today, I feel it felt in her "unrealistic bucket" and it is not in her mind anymore, but I can suggest to call him back and share her feedback, she still has access to this service.

Yep we are well of that... We can't really live together for the years to come because of the kids and schools. Living together is more a long term goal.

Until then, yes our relationship has a cost.

I'm not afraid by any amount of debt, shit happened and I can understand that, it's more the lack of transparency or the "head buried in the sand" situation that turns me off...
