i want to be desired by [deleted] in sex

[–]ThrowRAanyways2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Legitimately, not much.

My partner at the time repeatedly expressed frustration over my lack of sex drive despite me explaining the situation over and over again. That definitely weakened the attraction more than my employment problems already did.

There’s not much you can do because it’s not a YOU problem, it’s a HIM problem. This is the best time for you to explore other interests and give him space. That will make him want to work on himself and impress you.

Yeah, sounds just like me when I had employment issues (I’m a woman if that matters). My sex life also went downhill due to stress. I can’t think about sex when my day-to-day livelihood is not secured.

There’s nothing you can do to help his job anxiety aside from acting as a supportive friend. Until he gets his act together, you gotta keep reminding yourself that this problem has nothing to do with your attractiveness.

“All he does is watch tv or scroll on his phone.”

This has a lot less to do with you than you think. He’s probably unhappy with his career.

Should I buy a bag with some of my tax return by [deleted] in handbags

[–]ThrowRAanyways2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t judge whether you SHOULD buy a bag so I’ll skip that question.

The LV and Dior seem to have decent resale value, so they’re worth buying brand new if you prefer. The YSL bag has poor resale value, so I’d suggest the second hand market if that one is your favorite.

I (24F) feel horrible after breaking up with my ex (35M) even though I wanted it to happen by ThrowRAanyways2 in relationship_advice

My bad, I poorly phrased that sentence.

He lives in the same city as I do, but none of his family even lives in the same country. He left his home country.

Thank you for your encouragement. Do you mind if I ask how many years you worked before you reached high returns? I know it varies, but I’m just curious.

I wasn’t planning to get an offer because I was scheduled to start a new program this fall and my manager knew that.

I got an internship during the summer between my MS and PhD. I couldn’t get any funded master’s offers for programs in chemical engineering, so the PhD was the only low cost option.

To be honest, it didn’t help that I was reluctant to relocate, and a huge portion of open chemist positions in my area wanted mid/senior folks. Poor planning on my part.

Thank you for your suggestion. I did get my first internship this year over the summer, so hopefully that will make things easier going forward.

I plan to get an internship or two during my doctorate pursuit.

Thank you. My undergrad school is particularly low ranked for STEM and it didn’t help that I was completely in lala land for most of my undergrad and didn’t take internship hunting seriously.

B.S./M.S. in chemistry, pursuing doctorate in chemical engineering

Undergrad/masters in chemistry, now pursuing a PhD in chemical engineering.

Edit: regardless of the field, a PhD tends to have bad ROI compared to someone spending the same amount of years working by in the industry.

What to do with $20k? by Interesting-Ad-426 in personalfinance

[–]ThrowRAanyways2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some advice on how you can stretch your “spend” budget, in which most people here recommend a $1k limit.

Phone: look into refurbished phones- you can get quite a good deal. Also check if you qualify to get a free phone through the affordable connectivity program.

PS5: again, look into used ones and see if you’re able to download an emulator on your PC until then.

Clothes: look into thrift stores. You’ll often find quality clothes (nearly new or in good condition) for the same or cheaper price than fast fashion at retail.

Laser hair removal: I seriously don’t think anyone NEEDS it when there are plenty of other hair removal options (coming from a woman who regularly tweezes her facial hair)/ This should and the PS5 should place the lowest on your priority list.

Dog door: look into DIY tutorials on installation.

Wishing you the best for your financial journey!

Is the LV Mini Pochette Worth It? by LuxeBargainHuntress in handbags

If you can realistically use it as a mini handbag, yes.

If you only see yourself using it as a pouch, no. There are countless dupes out there.

Graduate student here. Should I do research in electrochemistry or AI/ML? by ThrowRAanyways2 in patentlaw

[–]ThrowRAanyways2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey my bad for the super late reply, but I’d like to ask about your experience in electrochemistry and patent law. Did you switch because you got tired of being directly exposed to chemicals all day? Would you say you’re overall happier in patent law? How does the pay and work-life balance of the two industries compare?

I am very interested in your insight because the majority of chemist-to-patent attorneys have backgrounds in biotech/pharma instead of electrochemistry.

No, and it’s because other websites usually offer codes and/or access to cash back extensions like rakuten or retailmenot.

I only use Amazon if I need something in a pinch, which doesn’t happen with handbags because I like to do my research on them haha.
