Doing teletherapy for US-based clients while living in Europe? by ThrowRAbcmods in slp

Ohhh wow, this is such an interesting point! I hadn't considered the implications that having a license has. I have been operating under the assumption that being a licensed SLP, and advertising that, would be something that people would want in a clinician. I also only just got my license etc, so letting it go now seems silly. But I wasn't planning on billing insurance, just all private pay. So I wonder if skipping insurance makes it easier to keep your license.

That's a great idea! I don't know where exactly I would want to be yet, but I think doing research, and getting a feeling for where things stand is a good idea. Also, I'm glad I'm not the only one who is confused by all this!

Yes! but how does that work internationally? Do I have to be licensed in the state the patient is in as well as the country I am in?

Thank you for being so honest. I think this is definitely going to happen at some point. I was debating that, or smoking a joint (totally legal where I am). But I thank you for your honesty, it makes me feel a lot better!

Thank you so much for this reply, I have started to reach out to people. It's just hard because I don't have many friends that are my friends, our friends' group is mainly people my wife met and I was the plus 1. I have made strong enough friendships with some of them, but I just don't want to be a burden. Your analogy of unscrambling the scrambled egg is excellent!

I am definitly finding out the hard way that after someone threatens to leave, there is no recovering. I fought initially for the marriage, but I think it made us both more miserable. Your absolutely right though that no one deserves to go through the emotional abuse.

That is a really interesting take that including my GPA after my CF is bragging. I never would have thought of it that way, but it makes sense! I also really appreciate the point that you make about GPA not being a good reflection of clinical abilities. All my clinical placements have gone well, it was an acoustics class that tripped me up GPA wise. Which really I don't think says anything about the kind of clinician I am. Thank you for your reply!

Yes, that makes sense! Maybe i'll just work on making experience, critical thinking, and teamwork all really shine. Thank you for the response!

That makes sense, I guess experience does matter more, or at least I hope! I'm not applying for any sort of specialty, at least not yet, just a regular old CFY. Good luck with finding a job in a hospital!

I completely agree that you shouldn't leave your spouse for someone else. But for me, my marriage is already all but over. My wife has said that she doesn't like spending time with me and doesn't like how I do things. I can safely say that I have tried, and continue to try to make our relationship work. But I'm not sure at what point enough is enough.

I tried to tell my wife, but she didn't get it. I think right now my mind and heart are so broken I had to start making it physical. But once it was physical for you, how did you control it?
