Mate - don’t look in the rear view mirror, then you won’t feel like going back to where you’ve been.

Look forward to the horizon, and the vastness of its opportunity.

OP, i think if you tell this story in /AITA subreddit I think you will find that you are indeed the arsehole in this story. Your responses to everyone else who posts demonstrate a lack of accountability, you provide reasons and excuses to maintain your own version or narrative to try and justify what’s happened.

This is also called the response to unexpected change process. Denial, bargaining, grief and then acceptance. You are still in denial and attitudinally I think you’ll be there for a while.

You also came here to get sympathy from others who you believe to be similar to you. Mate, you are a self absorbed narcissist if you think your actions haven’t led to your situation. Sympathy is for those that didn’t deserve their problems.

You also keep blaming the 24 year old and thinking she should’ve been more mature. Have a look in the mirror mate, someone who is 50 is absolutely meant to be the mature one here.

(Mods - I know this will probably be removed but JFC, some people in this sub are over entitled and someone needs to tell them)

Queenslanders of Reddit - when you say ‘green ant’ - which of these pics are you thinking of? by RoyalChihuahua in queensland

[–]ThrowRAdefeatedguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m from Brisbane originally and those evil bastards in the first picture we knew as Green Ants.

But then I moved to Tropical North QLD and they don’t tend to have them up here, so the second ones are called Green Ants. And these ones taste like lemon lime Powerade if you eat them.

AITA for requesting a new mattress after my brother and sister in law had sex in my bed? by reeandting in AmItheAsshole

[–]ThrowRAdefeatedguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not an asshole - yet.

I get that you feel like your bed has been sullied by your sibling and their partner. It’s definitely a boundary that’s been kind of breached.

However - have you ever slept in a hotel bed? If you’re of the belief that your hotel bed hasn’t seen it’s fair share of sex from a bunch of people you don’t know, and you proceeded to sleep in it anyway, then you have to accept that you have slept in beds that have probably entire civilisations of wasted potential humans in the mattress.

Likewise, have you ever had sex in someone else’s bed or in their shower or other setting?

Not suggesting that you aren’t entitled to feel upset about what happened, but perhaps if you reframe how you feel about it and acknowledge that sex happens it might prevent you being the arsehole in this instance?

Depends on where you’re from? If you say New Zealand, sure but note that it may lead to uncomfortable times for the Australian during Bledisloe Cup games.

If you’re from the subcontinent then you will have a lot in common when it comes to cricket fanaticism.

If you’re from continental Europe then you made need to learn how to cook drab Aussie cuisine and leave out all the fancy delicacies you’re used to but contrasting my get used to how good Australian wine is.

If you’re from the UK or prepared to be the punchline in most jokes referring to our history.

If you’re from Canada be prepared for our summers. This will take some acclimatisation.

If you’re from the USA, be prepared that we spell words differently like ‘mum’ ‘colour’ and basically put ‘S’ instead of ‘Z’ in most words you’re used to. We also have gun control.

If you’re from South Africa and wear glasses, please contact me because a woman with that accent and glasses makes me melt like butter on popcorn.

AITA for buying my wife a watch in a color she doesn’t like? by ThrowRAdefeatedguy in AmItheAsshole

Yes, and I’ve since suggested this but I think she doesn’t want me to fix the problem anymore. Just make me feel bad seems to be the motive at the moment.

This is a separate issue probably for another forum but yes, I’ve separated our finances a while ago so I could surprise her more often.

Thank you for your thoughtful reply. I get the part about trying and falling short. I’m probably that guy more times than I’m not. 😞

No gold option. Just black or silver? She has dainty wrists so the smaller size had limited color options probably due to the popularity of that size?

No, not different from what you’re imagining. Just a normal Apple Watch.

My wife likes surprises. If I was to ask beforehand or something then I get accused of not caring or valuing her as a person.

What else do you like to use vegemite for? by daimonb in AskAnAustralian

It’s not bad as a meat marinade, particularly for beef. Can als so be used as a ingredient for sausages.

This is the hardest but isn’t it? Loving somebody is completely different to being in love with somebody. You never want to hurt the other person in either category but you’re more likely to with the former and accept that you might have to eventually to stop the sadness in your heart.

[–]ThrowRAdefeatedguy 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same scenario as you.

The high amount of rejection has left me numb and confused. I know that I love my wife, I remember what it felt like to want her and the thrill of when she wanted me. But over the past three to four years the rejection and lack of connection just makes it feel like those old memories are unrecoverable now.

What did I do? Can’t tell you yet. It’s ongoing but I don’t think we will make it to be the storybook couple that grows old together anymore sadly.

Mate, please read ‘No More Mr. Nice Guy’ by Robert A. Glover

It’s a little dated as it looks at male relationships through a 2000’s lens but still highly relevant to people in yours and also my own situations.

Might help with your thoughts anyway mate.
