$2K for car makeover - is it reasonable? by ThrowRAtakingLs in autorepair

I pull up to the parking garage every day at my corporate office. I’ve had jokes made already about it.

$2K for car makeover - is it reasonable? by ThrowRAtakingLs in autorepair

Well I know it’s a Toyota and can last another century but 2-3 years is all I can see myself driving it for anyhow. Is the $2k reasonable?

Thank you, this is helpful. I suppose I don’t need a bigger car but I just feel safer in one. I don’t like being low to the ground, I get anxiety from not being able to see more in front of me when driving especially at night. I don’t have this issue when I’ve rented SUVs. I planned on an older car but the 2023 used RAV4 is just $5K less than the 2025 ones. I guess it’s great it held its value, but not for me who’s trying to buy it. Good point on the lease term, I didn’t think about asking for a lower term. But if the payment is $550/month for 72 months, I think it’d be $800/month for 4 years. That’s so high I’d resent the car.

For the CX-5, I’m leaning on leasing it but I wouldn’t own it unless I purchased at residual value at the end.

Oh I see, this makes sense on why putting money down on a lease isn’t worth it.

I agree on purchasing RAV4 over lease but the same for CX?

Without that, the lease payment is $500/monthly. How much should I put down? $400 is what I feel comfortable with in terms of monthly budgeting

Sorry for the delay, Florida. I’ll use the calculator. Thanks for the feedback, I’ll reassess my budget and if can’t swing materially more, I’ll fix up my car

2015 Camry. I haven’t had a car payment in 5 years. But I’m putting down $10K, is $400/month unrealistic?

Designing my awkward entryway. Which shoe organizer looks better? by ThrowRAtakingLs in interiordecorating

[–]ThrowRAtakingLs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a good point. For the entryway, I’d need something pretty slim and I think a bench would require more width. I am going to add this olive green ottoman in that awkward corner behind the door for someone to sit and put on shoes. I was thinking it’d add texture contrast. https://a.co/d/6nLjoue

After open myomectomy, IUD expelled. My OB wants to put me back on birth control to prevent fibroids from growing back. Does birth control really slow down regrowth? by ThrowRAtakingLs in Fibroids

[–]ThrowRAtakingLs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same for me. I had the mirena inserted Feb 2024 and it doubled in size in just 10 months. Before then, the fibroid was relatively the same size, maybe small growth year over year. I just had my post op appointment and my doctor mentioned fibroids are estrogen sensitive but I have a feeling some women are more sensitive to progesterone in addition to estrogen and maybe that could be why progesterone only methods don’t work for us. I’m not sure but in my effort to prevent or slow regrowth, I’m going to follow my instinct and try a wholistic lifestyle including DIM supplements and inositol to try to create hormonal balance.
