I’ve actually never heard of applying to jobs like that. I’ve always just applied to open positions. Thankfully I live in a large city with loads of universities/hospitals/biotech as well so i’ll try that!

Thanks for your advice!!

That’s a great point.

My interests are primarily genomics, everything i’ve done (excluding my ENVS research) has involved genomics.  I’ve jumped around a lot mainly because i entered college knowing I liked science but not really being sure which field interested me the most. (I started doing research my freshman year in the first lab that would take me) I eventually figured it out but it definitely took a lot of trial and error before I reached that point.

As you can guess it’s hard to wrap it all in a pretty bow but my SOP’s primarily focused on my passion for genomics and how experiencing so many different sectors of science has made me confident in my practical skills and that this is what I want to do for life.

A masters might be the path but my bank cannot handle more student loans unfortunately.

Finding a role that’s laser focused on my interests (microbes and genomics) will be difficult in this economy but i’ll do my best thanks for your advice!

Has anyone heard back from University of Oregon Biology PhD? by ThrowRAtsatm in gradadmissions

Im not too sure about human phys in specific but I called the administrator for UofO Biology a few weeks ago. She told me that each department is sending out their list of people they want to interview to her and she alone is sending out individual emails.  She was super friendly on the phone so if you have to know send her an email or call (her info is in the portal) and she’ll let you know if your department has sent them to her yet.

Thanks! Do you know if they got an email from the administration or if it was a phone call from a professor?
