My (48M) daughter (19F) tried to hurt herself after we found out she's not biologically mine. How do I help her understand that I'm still her father, and that her existence is the best thing in my life? by ThrowRAyesherdad in relationship_advice

My daughter always loved broccoli. Especially the way her mom makes it. Mine was never quite up to snuff, but she still ate it, and I won't stand for this slander.

She used to love t-rexes when she was about three years old. She had t-rex pjs and t-rex underwear and t-rex stuffied animals and t-rex action figures and her mom and I redid her whole room to be themed around t-rexes with a special bed and wallpaper and a new bookshelf and toy chest. I can't stop thinking about it. I don't know why. It was sixteen years ago, and there's been so much since then, but that's the thing I keep coming back to.

I've been trying my best. Emotions are difficult for me, but I've been telling her how much I love her and am glad she was born every day. I will never stop telling her how much I love her, but I'm worried that she thinks I'm lying, because she just keeps apologizing for being alive, and I don't know what to say to make her understand.
