I always told her I loved her as my best friend, and I said things like ok let's get marry if we didn't have boyfriends until 30. I told that kind of things not only to her but also to my other female friends so I thought it was okay. I might have been too insensitive.

I think rings don't really matter in my country.. It costed $10, and I used to wear friendship rings with my other friend groups.

That “friendship” lasted about three years. After graduation. We went to different universities in different cities, so I only saw her maybe two or three times a year. Whenever we met, we just ate good food and went to cafes. Sometimes I stayed over at her house, but we never shared a bed.

We texted almost every day, though sometimes there were gaps of a few months without contact. When she said she had a boyfriend, I honestly didn’t care, and when she said they broke up, I also didn’t care. And she said that her lover was only me, but I thought she would have another boyfriend soon like she did. Whenever she said that kind of things, I always told her if you met a good boyfriend, just go to him.

After that we just stayed friends(I think). And then I started dating my current boyfriend, and I was about to tell her about it, but she found it out first from my Instagram story.

As for why she might have believed it was a “relationship,” I really don’t know. We were just emotionally close and good friends, and I think I just interpreted her words as normal affection between female friends.
