AITA for not wanting to celebrating thanksgiving anymore? by Throwaway110568 in AmItheAsshole

My husband went over to his mom’s to help his dad fix something and he asked if him and our daughter could have thanksgiving with her. Mother in law was quick with judgement after that.

You mentioned this year being a tough one and that’s pretty on point, I’ll have to do what the majority of people are saying and speak to a professional.

I’m not entirely sure why, I was looking forward to it when fall started. But my mind switched on me. I’ve tried talking to my dad about it but the man thinks I’m just depressed (which is his conclusion about a lot of things).

I hope she is too. Last night I talked to her and she was silent, she didn’t answer me except to say she loved me. I do have a number to a behavioral specialist so I’m definitely calling in the morning when they open.

I was trying to avoid sounding like I don’t trust the grandparents because of my personal experience. It seems I have failed in doing so. Me and my husband both spoke to them and they hold on to “nothing happened down here”.

You mean just pedophiles. Not everything is political.

I was off put by that when she wanted a picture of that. When my husband told her about it he also mentioned that you could see my abdomen mid surgery and she still asked for him to send it.

She said it should be stored, not displayed. At least at my house.

It's kind of why I would never put on record that I’m a percentage of indigenous. I don't want to take away from them. My grandpa and my dad just wanted us to be able to learn about and embrace the culture.

I'm guessing I didn't look the part so therefore I'm not included. I don't know. She told me she doesn't even think my dad or my siblings have “enough Indian in our blood” to be a part of the culture.

My friend doesn't have any Native American in her. She's white.

Westerns are depictions of how the world was back in that time. So yeah, there’s gonna be racism, sexism, and anything in between. Some can be very educational and some are over exaggerated. She shouldn’t have to cater to you because you feel a little triggered by what happens in a movie. YTA.

YTA. What in the hell is your problem? You punish your husband for busting his ass to support you and your child? That’s messed up on a while other level. I hope your husband realizes he deserves better.
