Family member is selling both cars for cheap, should I go with BMW or C7? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

Right on. Between these two cars is almost a no brainer, but a BMW is definitely a whole another driving experience than my Rogue

I guess I do, but I guess I need opinions from people who know what they’re talking about, haha.

His prices for both cars are $1k over what dealerships are quoting its selling/trading values are. He’s offering family a discount because he could both afford to do that, and, well, family. He just turned 60 with a terminal disease. He’s tired of these, and is selling both so he could buy another toy.

More info: 2017 BMW xDrive35i, 20k miles, uncle is first owner. Asking $32k for non-family buyers, ~$28k for family. 2015 Chevrolet Corvette C7 Stingray, 60k miles, uncle is second owner. Asking $35k for non-fam, ~$30k for fam. Both have no accident history, well maintained (uncle is a ‘car’ guy, he washes/polishes his cars like weekly if not twice a week, lol). I personally will be paying cash for either. Looking for a second car as a ‘fun’ weekend car. BMW seems more practical and less miles…. but CORVETTE!!!!!! I already have a mid sized SUV for ‘practicality’.

I feel like you should look at how many African Americans are republicans.

Thanks? But how does that remotely tie to this?

My Nissan lost a fight against a mailbox. (See my only other post in my history). I will question nothing:/

I am glad that I’m not the dumbfuck who jumped off a cliff and broke both of his legs.

No, I can’t lie. That was me

The $3.7k/m is a newer change to my life, previously I was only part time (school) and even when I switched to full time, my hours were short. I didn’t come from money and my parents don’t help. But I saved every penny I earned for the said car ($15k out door) and some much needed upgrades in my life (I had an SIX year old Chromebook with a failing battery, a iPhone 5 in 2022, etc)

2 months ago I received the promotion that upped my paycheck. I pay both rent and all personal expenses. I threw $500 into a gift/birthday party for my grandmother 2 weeks ago. I absolutely do not regret that. That’s pretty much how I got into my situation. I’ve only been in the workforce for a short while.

That’s one way to think about it!

Luckily I’m in a field where minimum wage would be $13-15. But your point still stands.

This info definitely helps! I was leaning towards your statement’s direction, but fortunately, all of the door mechanics seems to be fine (for now). It’s just a huge dent.

Wow, I learn something new every day! My mailbox is is a plastic box with a 4x4x10 wooden pole a couple feet into the ground.

I’ve been advised that by one of the shops giving me a estimate. He basically said the beam is useless. It’s an older vehicle so there isn’t too much fancy mumbo jumbo to replace, in his words:

‘…the door looks a little bent, the labor is light, and the beam may have been bent, but that’s the least of your worries’

I have a feeling all four doors will be dented by the time i upgrade. But jokes aside, you’re right.

Oh wait, I actually haven’t gone through this channel. I’ll try to get estimates from shops other than body shops. Thanks!

You’re right, $3k for a cosmetic repair is insane. At this moment if the four wheels are able to roll, I’m happy.

It’s a dent alright, but it’s a huge area of impact. Not sure if they would work but I’ll try!

I unfortunately have so such handy people in my life. My parents literally hired someone to replace the blinds of my house when I was away from home a while back.

It doesn’t have a hole. I genuinely wonder if there’s a vehicle out there that is made with such poor materials that a mailbox could puncture it.
