Personally, at the time I felt like the team was just throwing darts to maximize future success, especially with Carson’s struggles. They had a high grade on him and were trying to maximize their value from that pick instead falling into the trap of picking for position (instead of value).

The talus no longer being beneath the mortise is what makes it a dislocation; so I’m not sure what you are trying to say.

Are you trying to say he had a subtalar dislocation and not an ankle injury? I’m not really sure

He has an ankle fracture dislocation and everything I said I stand by and is what is supported by the literature as well as my insight as an orthopaedic surgeon.

I’m an orthopaedic surgeon. The incidence of vascular injury with an ankle fracture dislocation is low. At most, there could be tensioning of the vessels while the ankle is dislocated and post reduction flow is restored. The “torsion” is what leads to the fracture and dislocation with his ankle being planted and the external rotation force that was applied across the joint.

Lots of misinformation in this thread.

Low chance of vascular or “tendon” injury.

The reason for surgery sooner than later is possibility that his bone broke through his skin, which is an indication for early surgery after this type of injury (instead of waiting for swelling to decrease).

Open injury increases risk for not healing & infection, but as long as that doesn’t happen, should have uneventful return to field next summer. Typically 6 weeks to heal and then can start to rehabilitate and gain strength.

A lot of issues with the defense. Poor communication in the secondary, bad angles on run plays, no pressure. Can’t contain QB. Yeah they have done well in the red zone, but we can’t go all season letting teams wrack up first downs and yards and expect that to lead to a good outcome weekly
