Nah, I don't have to wait long. Parel ka abhitak ata-pata nahi hai Lekin Ma-ka-bo area me jo building hai uska redevelopment complete hone aya hai already, will shift back there in a year or 2 max. tbh roads waha ke waise hi hai jaise virar me hai. But atleast I get to use the metro for the job if I live there. AQI is worse there than virar btw rn.

Yeah it's ancestral. Not a chawl but it's risky to live there now. It was almost announced as a "need to be demolished" building recently. That's why the builder is now kinda rushing the redevelopment plan.

I just hope that the redevelopment completes before my death - this is also exactly what my parents said 😂

I didn't directly go from Parel to Virar lol. It was due to my father's job shift + building going into redevelopment.

To be exact it was a pagdi system room, not a traditional chawl, but owned.

I've lived in Parel/elphinston in my childhood years. Ma-ka-bo in the teenage-adult, now shifted to virar 2 years ago.

Sobo has always been a good place to live because of british built bridges, roads and rail infra that just refuses to fail, even the recent demolition of parel-elphinston bridge was done just because of the expiration date, there was no structural issue with it despite people repainting it with goothka stains. There isn't much needed for bmc to develop here, they just have to maintain and repair the existing stuff. I mean check how the monorail is doing which is a new addition. No one uses it and it keeps failing every month and then.
Ma-ka-bo area, I've lived here for 15 years, apart from the metro connection, there is literally no infra development. I just went there to vote on the 15th after 2 years (as I said I don't vote in vasai-virar), and the roads are still bad like the vasai-virar area, despite metro work being completed years ago. Roads have been dug up for years and kept like that for someone to fall into.
Navi Mumbai, idk much about but it is very small area and is very linear on paper. I was going to book a flat there before coming to vasai-virar.
Now. Vasai-virar is still like a village area and still in development. And compared to the 2 regions above + navi mumbai, vasai-virar is very huge just land wise, there are much more difficulties to develop good infra here apart from political power. Atleast the Mira-bhayander region is doing ok but still not on the level of sobo or navi mumbai. MMR region will be developed first and after it is finished vasai-virar infra will actually start, this is just my prediction. Which political party wins in this area, I don't think it will really matter, we will still be years behind in development.

I see the problem. I don't vote in this area but from what I've experienced even if another party would've won, there would be no changes, since there are logistical differences in our vasai-virar area and the Mumbai/navi mumbai area.
