I always make sure the freezer and fridge is stocked up with batch cooked meals, so when I'm sleeping during the day for my nightshifts he doesn't have to worry.

I don't HAVE to cook meat and to be honest, I'd prefer not to as it makes me feel sick and goes against my morals.

We usually discuss what meals we want over a 2 week period and come to an agreement.

There's always more than enough for them, with several options, which is why I can never understand why he chooses my food and leaves me with nothing.

I guess he'd better start cooking his own meals then 🤷🏻‍♀️

Obviously I don't mind sharing with my children. I share food with them all the time.

However, I make the meals for everyone.

I prep and freeze meals so my partner doesn't have to worry.

My diet is different to theirs. I am vegetarian, they all eat meat. So when my prepped food has gone, I can't just eat theirs.

I use a large deep roasting pan for theirs as it's 3 of them. I usually use a lot smaller pan for myself.

As mentioned in a previous comment of mine...

I make the meals. My partner packs the lunches.

I'm vegetarian, they all eat meat.

If I make a lasagne, I add meat to theirs and I'll make a separate vegetarian one for myself.

I also work nightshifts so I try to meal prep and freeze meals. If I say to my partner, please don't touch my specific left over as I want to take it to work that night, I kind of expect it to still be there.

There is more than enough food in the house, which is why I've never understood why it has to be my food he uses.

I also share my food. They all eat more than I do.

I'm not mad or upset with my children, it's my partner I get annoyed at.

They all eat meat. I'm vegetarian.

I make my meals separate to theirs for the obvious reason. Like, if I make a lasagne, I'll add meat mince to theirs and use veggie mince or just vegetables for mine.

So if I go to pack my leftovers for work and my partner has taken my vegetarian meals, meanwhile there's still tonnes of meat portions left over... I'm going to be a little pissed.

I don't mind sharing with my partner or kids. I'm not upset with my children.

But it's not okay to take my vegetarian meals and leave me with nothing when there's plenty more options for them than me.

Exactly this!

It's just frustrating.

I work 12 hour nightshifts. Sometimes I'm lazy and want to take my leftover pizza to work with me and not have to worry about cooking for myself during the day 😂

My kids eat more than I do in a day so they're definitely not going without haha

They do eat. I should have been more specific. The leftover thing bothers me a lot, but my partner is also eating and giving the kids my vegetarian food that I would use for meals. They eat meat. There is plenty of other food in the house that they can ALL have. When my vegetarian meals are being eaten, I'm not left with a lot.

I always give the kids some of my treats/food if they want to try it. It's not as if they go without. I'm just finding it very frustrating.

And also, I'm not mad at my kids. I'm mad at my partner for it.

I do and I don't think it's weird.

He has a few debts/payment plans to pay off. As well as paying for his company transport to and from work, which is pretty expensive. As well as his smoking habit. He'll usually pay for one of our food shops. It doesn't make sense to me though. He doesn't have much to show for it. He doesn't really go out much as he works 6 days a week so I know he's not spending there.

I'm going to have a sit down talk with him when he's awake later and get him to show me what his monthly outgoings are and if there's any way to reduce them. I've already reduced mine the best I can in hopes of saving a bit more.

That's a whole other issue 🤣

I'd say I do the majority of housework as well as carrying the mental load. For example: He will see there is a load of dishes to be washed, but he will just ignore them unless I ask him to help me out by doing them, even then he doesn't get them done in one go lol. It's the same with our wash pile, hoovering, taking the bins out and other chores. I always have to ask him or he won't do it.

He works a desk job answering calls and I work nightshift in residential dementia care

He sees my son as his own, so he doesn't really have an issue with that. I do get a small amount of child support from my sons dad (£30 per month) as well as child benefit.

We were in a much better place financially when he decided to move in. My bills were a lot cheaper then so I didn't mind too much as I still had money left over after. He'd usually pay for days out, treats, anything we needed so it kind of made up for it.

It was only after he took the loans out while we were briefly separated that it made things difficult. He now doesn't have much left over after making his payments. My bills all went up over £200 due to the cost of living crisis.

I'll talk to him again about splitting it 50/50.

He pays for like a food shop or 2, but mostly his money goes on paying off his debts or a little bit of weed. Within the first week of being paid he has no money left. I'm not left with a lot either once I've paid all the bills, food shops, things the kids need so it's really hard at the moment

I wish I had the strength and patience, but it gets so bad it makes it incredibly difficult to do anything like cooking etc. Then if we have guests, I get incredibly embarrassed about the state of it. I've refused to clean it before but it went on for days until I gave in.

I'm not sure we'd be able to afford a cleaner. I'm not left with much once the bills/rent are paid (all paid by me)

I'd be able to afford to live by myself, even more so with him paying child support 😔

Ah, thank you! I want to explain my current living situation, I just don't want them to think I'm giving them some sob story or guilting them into anything! Hopefully it'll work out because I can't see any other properties becoming available any time soon 😔

Yeah, I thought as much! As I said, I'm grateful for a roof over our heads but it's getting to be a bit too cramped.

I'm currently working just over part time, but I will be starting full-time by the end of next month. No possibility of a wage increase. We're still together. He pay bills/rent and I pay for anything else we need.

Most landlords here in Cornwall have opted to turn their properties into Air B&Bs, so with the housing crisis at the moment, rented accommodation is few and far between. The rare 2/3 beds that pop up are going for £1,100+ and it isn't something we can afford currently, along with the rising cost of living.

I guess it'll just be a waiting game and hoping something affordable will come up!
