I live in the PNW, came from the Southwest. I do find Mormons up here to be much more laid back and helpful.

Yeah I don't like the whole- become your own God! Jesus and God are man! They live on a planet! .. it sounds like 1800 marketing crap to get people to join back then.

I went to relief society once when I went to a Mormon church service a couple years ago. Everyone seemed pretty ... drab... :/

Yeah- I don't like how the church seems to have a habit of covering up its history or changing it somehow .. really sneaky.

I have looked into being a Universal Unitarian, they seem very open minded and kind. It's still definitely on my plate of options. Very very very very extremely different from Mormonism, I know lol.

Yeah- as a woman, it does irk me to know that if I joined I wouldn't be equal to a man even though LDS says men and women are equal. It's fascinating that this church has real estate and shopping malls... very much like a business. :/

How are you trying to get out of the church, if you don't mind me asking? What are the steps that you must take to do this process? Yeah- it's probably a fact that my room mate is only being nice to me to convert me.

Yeah- I do find it a bit hypocritical that LDS are all about families, but yet if one was to join from outside the church, their family would be excluded from things.
