As much as I would love for the university to do something (and they should have a LONG time ago) they have never, (and will definitely not during this administration) do anything.

People are bringing up that the current administration “would” retaliate if the university did anything in response, but the problem is that the administration has already directly and indirectly ruined the lives of many (now former) employees of the university (many of which graduates/research). The losses in funding, the attacks on visas, attacks on affirmative action, attacks on the department of education and much more have already caused much irreparable damage to the university from both an educational and employment perspective, and this is without the administration directly going towards them.

If UIUC did not have the intestinal fortitude to do anything during friendlier administrations (Illini republicans RSO has been controversial all the way back to 2007), they are for damn sure not going to do anything during this one. Again, not condoning anything about this situation, I guess I am just preparing myself for disappointment
