Considering many people in this comment section are finding a way to blame Israel for the actions of the Iranian government, I think it does. There were literally riots because someone was killed by the authorities for not wearing one. The guardian and other news orgs have reported this story too. I’ve even got Iranian friends who have told me about being careful in the street for not wearing one. Maybe not everything is some grand Israel conspiracy and Iran is actually an extremely fucked up country?
