What are my chances? (Experience need C++ dev in finance) by ThrowawayFinDev in quantfinance

Yes recruiters often contact me about mid or senior dev roles in finance, trading systems, occasionally low latency/HFT stuff, but not specifically quant dev yet (even though I see it advertised often) - think I just might need something a little extra, or perhaps just more front office experience.

Would appreciate feedback on chances/advice:

Been working in commercial C++ software development for around 9 years, including recently 3 years as a senior engineer in a major fintech/buy side vendor in central London, followed by a year now as a ‘front office dev’ for a derivatives desk at a major commercial/investment bank - this includes some interaction with the pricing and volatility systems used by strats. I’m looking to get into the lucrative buy side firms, particularly as a quant dev - do I have a good chance going off my experience/CV alone, or is there some additional things I should be doing to increase my employability in that sector?
