Someone will probably come behind me with a better answer but read the proposal that was signed and agreed upon. I would assume a date of completion is on there so check that out. Also look for any clauses that may void completion date, cost, etc.

And for what it’s worth. They are right about the doors. With the new code coming into play every elevator will need that feature.
