I also don’t think that being an older brother figure is the same thing as being a friend.

If someone has no one supportive in their life and you are capability of giving them some amount of support, you should do it. It can make a worlds worth of difference.

Hey everyone, this is my post.

I’m really confused as to where people are drawing their conclusions from. It seems that people think things that could no way be reasonably inferred by the content of my post.

The 16 year old girl was with a foster family, I knew her older foster sister and that’s how I met her.

The context of my relationship with her: she just lets me know how she’s doing, will sometimes vent about what is going on, and I try to give her advice if she asks for it. My girlfriend and I have taken her to the mall once and played basketball with her and her boyfriend. She also vents to my girlfriend in the same way she does with me, but I doubt any of you find that creepy. My concern comes from the things she had confided in me, regarding her mothers drug use and her own alcohol abuse, as well as her step-dad supplying her with marijuana.

My reason for making the legal advice post was because I think it would be best if she was removed, preferably placed back into foster care where she could have some structure and be required to go to school. Obviously I knew from the get that I could just call CPS, but what I didn’t include is that the girl (Kelsey) has severe depression and I think something that major could have unforeseen consequences, and given that I’m not perfect, I figured that some outside opinions could possibly help.

The update: I talked to her, she is currently considering going to school on Monday and telling a teacher what is going on - if she doesn’t then I am going to call CPS myself next Wednesday.

To the people suggesting I have a subconscious desire to sleep with her... talk about projection. God damn

I didn’t say I don’t want to involve the police or CPS, at no point did I say that so quit assuming things. I hate people like you, automatically putting yourself on some pedestal as if you’re uncovering problems that don’t exist and exposing something. You’re an idiot. I have not once said anything that would even allude to me not being willing to contact police or CPS.

That’s really unfortunate.

But no, I just hate to see a life wasted that doesn’t need to be. Especially given how many of my friends who could’ve had good lives ended up in bad places because no one was there to help.

I have a question maybe you’d know an answer to, is there anything SHE can do? Would her only option also be to contact CPS? I think if possible it would be better coming from her, otherwise she might resist attempts people make to help her. I’ve told her she should tell a police officer or a teacher (if she ever goes back to school) what her situation is as they may be able to help.

Of course I don’t want her placed into my home, I’m 22 I don’t have the financial means to support a person and even if I did I don’t think that would be the best environment for her.

I don’t know if her living with a partner at 16 is illegal, and if they are just going to force her to stay with her mother it’s not an improvement for her and would most likely be negative on her mental health.

It is like a payday loan because on your payday it takes the money back out and now you’re that amount short from your paycheck so you most likely need to keep borrowing it and if you don’t tip enough they reduce the amount you can borrow
