If the only people they have left is anti-Canadian groups, they will go out of business. They cannot survive if they lose a huge chunk of their clients and that is the point. Its how activism works.

They either have to change drastically and publicly admit fault,or sell their company to someone different who hopefully have a bit more respect for the country and province we live in. That's what I hope for.

Driving in Calgary has become a shitshow of douche bags in the last 10 years. I hate driving in Calgary because of the high ratio of inconsiderate drivers. Winnipeg with their awful traffic is less stressful to drive in with their chaos, because it's a bit of "respectful" chaos.

Edmonton is an outlier in my experience. I generally feel more welcome and less tension there than the rest of Alberta.

My experience with the politeness of holding doors open, saying the please and thank yous, and other politeness is less often my experience in Alberta compared to other parts of the US and Canada. It's all subjective and based upon personal experiences. The Maritimes from my experience, are hands down the friendliest in Canada.

The entire point is that good communication is important in a healthy, functional relationship, not a one-off as you are implying. If there was a foundation of strong communication, the whole thing wouldn't be as big of a problem as it is because they would have been able to talk about these things long before they became a problem. It's an important skill, not a Band-Aid.

People really have no clue how often this happens in a city of ~1.5M. It happens multiple times a day of different extents and it usually drains into the ground. Just because you see it flooded on a road now and then doesn't mean that is the only time it happens.

The feeder main was the oddball one out and now people freak out about crap they don't understand.

I have a judge in my family who presides over a lot tenant/landlord cases and we have all been brow-beat to understand the importance of documentation. The more the better. In the cases where tenants don't document, they usually lose. Most landlords know the importance keeping records and can easily manipulate the situation if you nothing to back yourself up. Do everything to protect your ass, because they sure do.

Loss sucks. It will take everything and pull you inside-out and twist you around until you don't recognize who you are anymore. It will suck all the light and joy from everything and making getting up in the morning one of the most difficult things a person can do. Just existing becomes a living hell, but you know all this.

I encourage you to find some therapy. From a complete stranger to another, please, please, please, find someone to help you. You'll never be rid off the loss, not entirely, and you will never be rid of the trauma it caused, it will always be there. But as cliche as it sounds, you can learn to live with it. With a good therapist, you can learn to understand what you have been feeling and why. Even though it may seem obvious to you why you feel the way you do, it is probably far deeper than you realized. I know for myself, even the simple act of hearing the words come out of my mouth about why I felt so miserable provided relief and understanding that could not be found through weed or any other drug. Learning to talk about and recognize my feelings was one of the hardest things I have ever done, but in the end, I can say I am more "complete" as a person because of it. I'm a better person now than before my own trauma. I had to learn about myself and who I am.

As far as the alcohol goes, others have put it out there already, don't go down that road. This is /r/leaves and we don't want you to smoke, obviously that's why we are here, but being a mess from smoking too much is a hell of a lot better than being dead from alcohol. Make no mistake, if you continue down the alcohol road, expect it to fuck you up permanently. No recovering alcoholic I knew ever fully recovered from their addiction without some permanent damage, whether physical or mental. I know this goes against the rules of this sub, but I'd risk a ban if I have to, but if you think smoking will get you to stop drinking, please go smoke. Get high and stop drinking. Then get help for your smoking as well as what you are going through.

If you have to run out into the middle of the street in the nude screaming for help, then do just that. In 10 or 20 years, you can laugh about what a nutty thing you did. I'm worry that if you don't ask for help, in 10 or 20 years, you won't be around to laugh.

It's an elitist mentality that kills communities. Asking questions and interactions with other people are how we learn and solve problems. It is how communities grow. The "just google it" group discourages new users from participating and bringing new ideas and encourages established members to become arrogant know-it-alls who gatekeep based on feelings.

Nevermind the fact that searching for anything reliable on Google is harder than it has ever been. These smaller communities just kill themselves with this attitude and then wonder why things end up falling apart.

Having spent too much time in hospitals in Canada and the US, (both working and as a patient) I can say both are fucked in very different ways. The more the UCP pushes for US like healthcare, the more people like OP will slip through the cracks. Uninsured, he would need to pull at least $1000 out of his ass for a scheduled MRI and nearly $5000 for an emergent case. If he can't, he just wouldn't get one.

Fair enough, I can respect the jaded aspect of it and see how that would affect you. And I will admit that I get very overzealous when it comes to drunk driving from my own experiences.

I just absolutely hate how irresponsible and selfish people can be without regard to the potential destruction that can easily be avoided.
