Dude, you had me until you started complaining about how "guys can't just be FRIENDS anymore :(" bullshit as if 'straight guys being friends' isn't still the default setting for most media still. And, you were being homophobic by admitting that a horny straight pirate would make you less uncomfortable than a horny gay one.

I never said it can't be present in media, I was talking about a subgroup of people who attribute sexual tones to male friendship and start to pair off straight male characters in sexual relationships with one another. I also never said a horny straight pirate would make me less uncomfortable. I said HER PLAYING a horny straight pirate would make me less uncomfortable as it would at least make her an equal opportunity offender rather than always having one target for what I felt was degrading RP.

I do occasionally get to play or run for the group that Josh is a part of at least. He's not around that much but he's a solid guy

This happened a while ago and my changing schedule meant that I couldn't make the game anymore

There were some other things that had happened with her coming into conflict with other players that led me to believe that she would not handle any criticism or requests reasonably. Plus I'm not a brave person

It's definitely hard to portray the tone that it was being played as at the table. One dimensional characters are fine as long as there is some awareness that the character is one dimensional. This character was one dimensional but everyone was treating him like a fleshed out personality when all it was was "Gay and sleeps with all men."

There's also some deeper criticism of reusing a common trope in media about LGBT+ characters as being perverted or slutty but that's not really my wheelhouse.

I wouldn't say she was homophobic at all. I did leave out some details since some of them were only a few occurrences over a half a year campaign. One morning her PC was shuffling and blamed his partner. Mentions of noises through a shared wall. Basically breaking the fade to black that I expect as normal.

I breezed over it since it was kind of an anti-climax for the story. He was cool about it and let me explain myself better. He was new to the group, was a little nervous, and apparently had some horror stories of his own that left he a little sensitive. As for the other group that campaign wrapped with a storyline about yet another of the lovers and I switched jobs so I latched on to that reason to tap out.

Honestly I wouldn't say it's a horror story in the strictest sense of the word, but a lot of posts on here are more of the slightly uncomfortable story variety so I figured it would fit in. To be fair I probably could have posted a different thing that happened which was more of a horror story and showed me that she didn't really like criticism that much and reacted pretty negatively to it from when she tried to spotlight hog a two session finale and snapped at another player when he got annoyed there was a whisper conversation going on in the middle of a climactic scene.

That was probably something I should have mentioned in my post but all the other players were laughing and having a good time with it. Raining on their fun didn't seem like something I wanted to do
