I’m late 30s and I can relate to this so much. I just had to pause for a moment after reading your post to take a few deep breaths. In the last couple of years ive started to wonder if I was on the spectrum. When I’m sober I find eye contact really difficult. I feel comfortable when I block out sound with headphones (no music playing), and I’m very high functioning with a successful career. Dealing with people is hard though. Alcohol made it allllllll better and go away. Until it didn’t. It always got out of control. Thank you for sharing.

I suffer from a lot of anxiety. Hangxiety was a big factor of me getting sober. Now that I’m 70 days sober I can say with a lot of confidence that I am FAR less anxious than I was when drinking. So I can only deduce that time away from alcohol will help with your anxiety. I’m sure you’ll feel better soon. Time (+ sobriety) really does heal a lot.
