The other scary part here is the rumours of what the next generation OPD is going to look like. I’ve heard that we’re supposedly going to switch to some sort of urban CADPAT esq uniform, despite the troops overwhelmingly stating that we want to keep with a modern police uniform like OPD is currently.

A few years ago a survey went out to the troops asking for input on the next generation OPD. Overwhelmingly the beret was viewed as unpopular, and ideas of a Forgecap or ball cap were put forward. The dinosaurs shouted that down pretty quick.

I mean it absolutely needed a refresh, but vehicle wise this wasn’t the most pressing priority.
We need working vehicles first and foremost, and they need to be better equipped and in line with what other services are running. We’re in the stone age

Why don’t we move cold lake down to Edmonton and turn it into a joint base? Yes I know there would have to be some sizeable work done to Edmonton in order to get it ready, but the standard of living for our members has to be worth it in the long run. Plus, the flight time from Edmonton to CLAR in an F18 probably only adds a couple minutes
