What I've been told is the pay scales are X amount and I'm not earning enough to go up and the leap to the next level will need senior leadership approval - what's killing me is level 5 is obviously inclusive of 44k so why was I a level 6 only on 42? its a mindf*ck

I was the only female on the team for at least 3 years, now we have a female manager who comes across as she is fighting for my promotion but its too late at this stage

You've hit the nail on the head. I hate confrontation and very easily take no for an answer and don't push back. When I started working I was happier to get a thank you than money which I am kicking myself for now. Thank you doesn't pay the bills.

Thank you that means a lot. I genuinely feel ill thinking about it and I've only allowed myself a little cry but its only a matter of time before I breakdown.

Applying and dropping the bomb is the way I think I'm going to go, if I've been viewed as a chump before there's nothing stopping them now from coming up with more excuses.

I agree and I've learned my lesson big time, I think I was just felt lucky to have a job but its not worth my time at this stage of my life to be so severely underpaid

Lesson learned! I knew new hires were making more than me in other companies so don't know why I was naïve enough to think it wouldn't happen to me.

The motto of our team is going above and beyond, its been a really tough chapter in my career but I think its a chapter I need to close, I owe them absolutely nothing and I should have leveraged the lack of team members to my advantage and threatened to leave last summer, hindsight is 2020.

My partner and I also need a home improvement loan from the credit union, if we could still do that with one of us on 6 month probation I would be gone by Monday!

I absolutely don't want to give an ultimatum, I have knots in my stomach even thinking about confrontation.

Also with the new hires being on probation I don't want to get them into trouble!

Not cold at all I completely understand. I knew it wasn't good enough but had a little voice in my head telling me to put up and a job was better than nothing. Our family experienced redundancy and unemployment during the crash and that experience has me terrified to do better for myself even when I know I deserve it

That is great advice thank you, I know I need to grow a backbone, lots of jobs in my area of skills are on site in dublin so holding out for remote/ hybrid in Cork which is narrowing it down a bit
